If HR 676 is killed by reform efforts and a new more costly Bill is produced,
Edited on Wed Jul-29-09 06:16 AM by mmonk
I have to say I do not want it to pass. HR 676 has not had an adequate airing as to contents and how it would work with the public. I look at the Bills and see many problems, know they will deliver less than HR 676 for more costs just like what we have now. If someone can really show it will be a stepping stone and not a stepping on single payer, show me.

1. Isn't HR 3200 the bill that is being worked on?
HR 676 is stalled?

7. Nothing happens to HR 676 -- it dies if not voted on
There are lots of bills that are introduced during each session of Congress which never make it to the floor for a vote. They can be stuck in subcommittees, committees, etc. The committee chairmen and the majority party leadership have considerable power over which bills move through the legislative process and go to the floor for a vote, and which bills do not get considered further.

After the session of Congress ends, any bills not voted on are dead unless reintroduced by there sponsors in the next session.

2. It's Not Reform...It's "Resturcturing"
Like reshuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic. I am strongly opposed to any bill that doesn't have a public option, period. I'll be watching votes carefully...ready to donate and work for all candidates that challenge any Democrat that sells out to the insurance lobby.

4. Um...HR 676 isn't on the table.
HR 3200 will be the only bill that sees the House floor.

6. My OP rephrased: If HR 3200 and/or a Senate version passes,
Edited on Wed Jul-29-09 07:49 AM by mmonk
I am for it failing if it means HR 676 will not be considered nor presented to the American people as an option in the future because I'm not sold the Bill passed will work. I hope this clarifies some confusion.
