You know why Dems fail so much..?
It's because they aren't as in-your-face as the Repubs.

Last nite I heard Pres. Obama's response to the question at the town hall about whether government health plans would force people to die sooner than they would otherwise. (The new RW lie.) Pres. Obama's nuanced, comforting answer is a perfect example of what I'm talking about.

How about instead... "Where did you ever hear a silly thing like that? .... Have you been listening to those kooks on talk radio? Of course not... the government isn't out to kill you and anybody who even hints at that is a liar, and a dangerous liar at that. When someone talks like that, you know they're trying to scare the people, and that money and greed are the bases of those lies."

Something like that.

Repubs have been framing all the big political questions for decades, and the Dems won't get anywhere using the Repubs own framing to screw themselves.

2. Usually not good to insult ones questioner
There are exceptions of course, but if you purpose is to address the concerns of people, it's best not to call them silly. I think your close, and I think to some degree you're on to something. I'd probably phrase it along the line of; "That's silly and whomever is telling you such a thing should be ashamed. Quite honestly, anyone accusing us of such things is obviously intentionally lying, and it is a dangerous lie to boot. It's these kinds of lies that ultimately get people unhinged and walk into clinics and churches and start shooting people".

3. Strangle them on their own rhetoric while pounding them with the facts.
They are not reality-based, and that's why we can always beat them when we really try. As Steve Colbert, Stephanie Miller and George Galloway can tell you, aggressive progressivism WORKS.

5. Because many of them largely intend to lose..
There really isn't any other explanation that makes as much sense.

They make a halfassed show of being in opposition to the Republicans but when it comes right down to brass tacks their aims are very similar and they are working for the same people.

7. Exactly. It's akin to, say, pre-scripted 'pro- wrestling w/predetermined outcomes
...that likewise offer the public the illusion of one side of the one big $ party is 'on their side.' Guess what? They're not. At all.

6. Obama needs to schedule time for a speech soon
to counteract all the outrageous lies being told by a desperate and corrupt insurance industry.

The best answer to all their lies is to point out that this wouldn't even be under discussion had the insurance companies not been cheating people out of what they paid for, bankrupting and/or killing them in the process!

13. Exactly my point! He's doing it his way....
.. and the Dems - especially us Progressive Dems - are getting our asses kicked.

That's why they call it the Bully Pulpit ...it's a chance for Pres. Obama to do some education and advocacy. While he's calm and reasoned, Faux is telling the gullible that Obama is the Anti-christ and a commie. He's got to meet those crazies and defeat them... publicly. If he can't do it, he needs to find some attack dogs that will. I had hopes that Rahm Emmanuel - with all his faults - could be the pit bull. More like an old labrador lying under a tree.

If health care fails, the Dems are at fault for not trying a new strategy.

15. Fail?.....they have been very successful.
Their employers are pleased.

*Keep the WARS going

*Increase Military Spending

*Defund "Social" Programs

*Divert $Trillions to Wall Street and Health Insurance Industry

*Concentrate more Money and Power into fewer hands

Nope.
They have been successful when you realize for whom they are working.
