Kyl: Health insurance companies ‘don’t need to be kept honest.’

President Obama has explained that one of the reasons he supports a robust public option as a competitor to private insurers is to “force waste out of the system and keep the insurance companies honest.” Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ), who opposes a public option, tells the Wall Street Journal that insurance companies don’t need to be kept honest:

“The health insurance industry is one of the most regulated industries in America,” said Sen. Jon Kyl (R., Ariz.) on the Senate floor Monday. “They don’t need to be ‘kept honest’ by the government.”

Kyl is simply expressing the conservative view that unregulated private industry functions best. He might want to sit down and talk to Wendell Potter, a former health insurance executive who has testified that he saw how first-hand how private insurers “confuse their customers and dump the sick — all so they can satisfy their Wall Street investors.”

5. His stupidity is of the deliberate type, I imagine 1.4 million on average being spent
every day by the "health" insurance corporations to bribe the Congress will buy you a shit load of ignorance, turning members of the "world's most deliberative body;" like Kyl into Sgt. Shultz.

2. Vile Kyl, proving again that he's a corporate stooge doing his masters' business.
Screw the people.

He disgusts me. I'm so glad I'm no longer one of his constituents.

3. I don't think Kyl needs to be kept in the Senate
If Arizona voters want to cling to the man, they need to give him a one term vacation so that he can sample the air outside the DC Beltway and maybe, just maybe, get a reality check.

He's completely disconnected from the real world. That's one definition of insanity.

Even conservative Arizona deserves better.

7. Apparently Jon Kyl thinks he lives in another country.
They absolutely DO need to be kept honest, because they have no compunction about screwing people and dropping their insurance if they get too costly to cover.
