Would the Birthers object to Bobby Jindal becoming president
or for that matter Bill Richardson?

In Jindal case his parent we both Indian/ though he was born in Baton Rouge.

In Richardson's case he was born in Pasadena. His dad was Nicaraguan and his Mom was Mexican.

My guess is that they would give Jindal a pass, but not Richardson

1. Great point.
Really crushes the delusions about what "natural born" means in Orly Tates' freakish imagination.

2. That's a completely different sort of 'argument'. They are claiming that Obama wasn't born
in the U.S.

I can't imagine anyone not knowing that.

9. Not in theier bizarro world
The define natural born citizen as being a second generation amerikun.

They get this extra-constitutionally.

I am not defending them just saying what they are saying

10. A US territory is a part of the USA and anyone born in one qualifies
Like Guam or Puerto Rico or (Hawaii or Alaska before 1959)

20. I did not know Panama was ever a US Territory
I know we claimed complete control over the Canal Zone and gave that back to Panama during Carter's term but I never realized Panama was a US territory.

4. What happened to the GOP screams for Ahnold to be president?
They wanted to amend the Constitution JUST FOR Ahnold! I wonder how California feels about that right now.

6. My guess is that after all is said and done,
Jindal would be a shade or two dark to get the nod from those folks. They would come up with something.

18. Exactly. They rejected Romney due to his religion
and he's as white as snow. They would never let Jindal, Richardson, or Steele get anywhere near the nomination!

11. Probably yes
They don't like anyone who isn't pure white and think they're all bloody furriners. Jindal at least is right-wing enough for them, but not Anglo-Saxon enough.

12. they would find some loophole that allows them to accept him
but in Jindal's case, couldn't the case be made that his parents believe in reincarnation, and they can't produce his ORIGINAL birth certificate?

13. And they didn't even take the "natural born" clause seriously until Obama
Remember when Orrin Hatch tried to get a constiutional amendment to enable AHHnuld Schwarzenegger to run for prez? The so-called "Hatch Amendment"?
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4188/is_20041007/ai_n11480498/

"Citizenship, whether by birth or naturalization, is the cornerstone of this nation's values and ideal," said Hatch, chairman of the Judiciary Committee.

Where was the screaming about the constitution then?

17. Richardson is a Democrat so yes, they would object
(especially if they figured out he's Hispanic - the last name throws a lot of people)

Jindal is a Repuke so probably not.

22. The Birthers have guaranteed Jindal can never be nominated
Their hatred for Obama has gone so far that when they had to admit (at least some of them), somewhat chagrined, that yes, maybe Barack Obama was born in Hawai'i, they steered their boat of nutburgerry in a different direction.

Because of that, any Republican who does not meet their definition of natural born citizen (nevermind common sense or US v. Wong) will be savaged in their primaries.

23. Republicans would never nominate Jindal or Rice. they talk a good game, but
those "folks" are just their tokens..so they can pretend to be colorblind..

The hardcore republican base wants someone like Sarah, Huckabee, Pat Buchanan, Hayley Barbour, Jeff Sessions..someone like that.. they want someone who can hold a rally where they'll feel free to yell "KILL HIM".."TRAITOR".. a candidate who will embrace the teabag people the birthers, and now the kill Granny people.

They will eventually coalesce with the few remaining "normal" republicans, and probably settle for Romney or Pawlenty or some other WonderBread candidate, but in the heart of the base, they like 'em mean, down-home & raw.
