Try this with a birther: Go up to them and ask if they'd vote for a President Schwarzenegger |
|
See how many would react positively to such a suggestion, without even thinking. It's a terrific litmus test for the authenticity of their cause.
There's one aspect of the birther b.s. that's not being mentioned: The issue is, at most, a technicality. What real bearing would it have on Obama's ability to govern if, as an infant, he'd been born outside the arbitrary borders of the U.S.? Are we really to believe that these people are concerned with the letter of the law, after 8 years of Bush-Cheney lawlessness? If not, do they believe that a newborn infant, before they can walk, talk, or read, is influenced in the slightest by the local political ideology?
Of course not. This is just a smokescreen for the real issue: Seething, hateful bigotry.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is a white, macho Republican action star. What he is not is a native American citizen. Obama is.

They get all the benefits of racism without the side effects of the traditional remedies.

5. Birthers hate Arnold. I like to say that Obama's birth certificate has embarrassing information. |
|
It shows that his real father was Ronald Reagan.

I am bit off beat about it. And, since I'm blond, people half expect dumb questions from me. Makes for some grand entertainment from time to time ;)

9. Actually, you should ask them if they would rather have McCain as President. |
|
Then tell them that he was born in the Panama Canal.
