Some things make you shake your head in disbelief

On Monday, the Columbus Dispatch's website posted an interview with Senator George Voinovich. No, that's not the problem.

Among other things, the soon-to-be-former senator identified the GOP's worst problem as "southerners. The party's being taken over by southerners."

You figured there would be some blowback. After all, if a Democrat had said this, we'd be hearing weeks and weeks of howling from right-wing talkers and columnists about the arrogant Yankee elitists in the Democratic party who don't understand good old working-class, salt-of-the-earth Americans.

There was blowback from — of all people — Voinovich's colleague from Louisiana, Senator David Vitter.

Calling Voinovich "a moderate, really wishy-washy,” he went on to say, "I'm on the side of conservatives getting back to core conservative values. There are a lot of us from the South who hold those values, which I think the party is supposed to be about."

...assuming you are talking about republicans in Congress. But the republican electorate is being taken over by crazy people. And that's their real problem.
