Imus says Lou Dobbs birther looks like "a grassy knoll nut"
FNC's Chris Wallace was on Don Imus' radio show this morning talking about, among other things, coverage of the birthers. "Clearly the birth certificate story is not worth talking about," said Wallace.

Imus went one further saying Lou Dobbs' coverage of the birther story, "makes him look like a grassy knoll nut."

2. Wasn't Dobbs also pushing the "Sarah Palin gave birth to her own grandchild" drivel?
His conspiracy delusions never end.

3. Yeah, because anyone who doesn't believe the government's official explanation
of JFK's assassination must be a nut. Perhaps a new term should be used for describing someone who believes something way out of the mainstream considering that 70+% of the country doesn't believe in the single shooter theory. Magic bullet nuts seems far more appropriate.

8. Because there's so much similarity between the two.
In a scant 6 months, every idiotic birther argument has been completely demolished. 45 years later and a sham of a government investigation has only raised more questions than it has answered pertaining to the Kennedy assassination. Even our very own congress has lambasted the WCR and it's never stood up to any decent scrutiny. That you'd compare the two is incredibly telling.

9. :)
I guess the two issues are of different complexity. But overall I guess it isn't a horrible comparison by Imus. When you read a JFK conspiracy theory that includes Time traveling aliens I think you can assume there's a lot of nuttiness in there.

10. The term "grassy knoll" includes no reference to aliens.
And considering more than 70% of the country are "grassy knoll conspiracy theorists", calling them nuts and suggesting they're part of a fringe is pretty damned stupid.

14. I get very much what you mean.
You're suggesting that because there are some ridiculous fringe theories regarding the JFK assassination that Imus's reference to a birther being like a "grassy knoll nut" is an apt one. It's a stupid reference to make because "grassy knoll nuts" are actually in the majority in this country and they're certainly not part of any small fringe. Those who believe in the government's explanation of a single shooter from the book depository are in the minority (and rightly so).

16. That's usually said after something at least remotely funny.
Excuse me if I'll save my laughs for Ziggy or perhaps Family Circus.

17. Example of why this is so funny
Someone calls someone say a religious extremist.

The religious nut says, that person has attack all of the sound people of America. Doesn't he know 80-90 % of Americans believe in god. By calling this person a religious extremist he's attack all of America!

The sane person says, Yeah I get it there are some people for which religion goes over the edge. How do I spot them, they tend to act like the guy above whenever the term religious extremist is used.

Anyways, Rachel Maddow of course off hand threw out nearly the same line as Imus last night in a joking fashion. So apparently some people on the left can laugh at themselves and some people get angry really easy. Imus says so really offensive things... this not really one of them.

19. I never said it was offensive. Just stupid.
By definition, those people are not on the fringe. Which makes his comment damned stupid on his face. Former Press Secretary Ari Fleischer used the term in a similarly stupid fashion. I really couldn't be bothered to be offended by anything Imus has to say. When I fail to see the humor in what you write, it's not because I have a poor sense of humor. It's because there's no humor to be seen in the grammatically challenged comparison that you made.
