A creepy fan was arrested for stalking Miley Cyrus and then let go because of jail overcrowding - despite telling Georgia cops the "Hannah Montana" star sends him "secret messages" through her TV show.

With Mark McLeod's whereabouts unknown, Disney bigwigs fear for the safety of their 16-year-old franchise darling.

Studio execs are so concerned that McLeod could harm the starlet they alerted Los Angeles cops of his arrest and release in Georgia, TMZ.com reported.

In March, McLeod professed to the Daily News that he is Cyrus "No. 1 fan" while waiting to see her at a Midtown book signing.

He said he first saw her in concert in Orlando last year and since then "I've kinda been watching everything she does."

McLeod of Appling, Ga., showed a far more sinister side June 22 when he was arrested in Tybee Island, Ga., near where Cyrus was filming her upcoming movie, "The Last Song."

Cursing at cops, McLeod allegedly tried to head-butt one officer as he was being handcuffed.

"F--- you and your rules!" he screamed as he tussled with police. "I will \ be with Miley!"

He told cops he had "thousands of pictures and letters to Miley on his computer," and had mailed her diamond rings.

"McLeod stated that Cyrus' responses came in the form of 'secret messages' on her television show directed only to him," the police report says.

23. The Tybee Isle jail

is pretty small.
IIRC it has only four cells.
Its mostly used for holding beachgoers who get drunk and start fights or engage in seriously beligerent and obnoxious behaviors.
Occasionally they may get their hands on a real criminal but they usually transfer them to the Chatham County lockup.
Why this guy did not get a trip to CCJ is kinda wierd.The Tybee goverment shut down half the island so they could film the movie for safety and security reasons.Then they let this loon go. Wierd.

15. Apparently there was a breakdown in communication between the cops that arrested him on Tybee Island

and the police who processed him in Savannah. The county Sheriff has egg on his face about this one, but can blame it on the officers not communicating all the craziness to the processing officers. If they had, they would have detained him for a mental evaluation if nothing else.

Stalkers are scarier than shit. They are fixated, and they don't give up. They should put even stronger penalties on these criminals.

22. I saw an behind-bars interview with that prick...

...NO remorse. He described the whole incident, and when it came to the shooting, used his finger as a gun and made a "POW" noise. He told the story without any emotion at all, like you'd give someone street directions.

All I could think of was "Michael Myers" in "Halloween" stabbing his sister...just a short-circuited, damaged individual who is where he belongs now, and should stay there for the rest of his days.

In 1989, Rebecca Schaeffer was a Hollywood darling, former star of the television series My Sister Sam and several movies. But just as her career was taking off, her life was cut short by Robert John Bardo, a man who had been stalking Schaeffer for years. In July 1989, Bardo showed up at Schaeffer's apartment and fatally shot her as she stood in her doorway.

Bardo's crime sent chills through Hollywood, especially because of the ease with which he found Schaeffer through her driving records. The incident led to new anti-stalking laws, including the 1994 Driver's Privacy Protection Act, which prevents the Department of Motor Vehicles from releasing private addresses.
