She will see a filled waiting room with many poor people in it NOW with the system we have in place TODAY, who have to get their health care without coverage here.

Still remembering when I had to wait all night as a patient with coverage and a kidney stone, but was deprioritized because my symptoms subsided after I got there in the waiting room (even though I had to get an operation a few months later to get it removed).

But seeing the condition those other people were in, they should be getting health care with a priority higher than myself then. The problem was that the system needs fixing so that we didn't have waiting situations like that. I saw more janitors and people coming in to *paint* the waiting room more on that night than I saw nurses or doctors walking through the waiting room then. They were obviously understaffed that night. Hopefully if we fix our health care system and get coverage for everyone, trips to the emergency room won't be as "adventurous" in THIS COUNTRY in the future and will give us better quality care then.

23. I had to spend a long evening in the ER at LA County/USC years ago

with a hospital gown on and an IV catheter (it involved a rabid cat, ok, long bizarre story). I found it interesting that the only people interested in speaking to me, a white middle class person, were a black hooker and her presumed pimp, who were pleasant and friendly. Nobody else there was the least bit friendly, and plenty were white.

I'm not very concerned about the poor and minorities - they seem pretty goddam normal to me. It's the spoiled rich white folks that piss me off most the time in this city.
