Not that I've SEEN anyways.

Isn't there some crazy, teetotaling extreme sobriety group that should be lambasting the President over this?

I really am kind of surprised there haven't been any loonies using this whole "sit down and have a beer" thing to skew Obama's invitation to promote "drinking to solve problems" or some other nut-ballery.

I just made up that last word.

2. Well, he didn't invite them over for a joint.
That might have worked better, but he avoided that.

3. I think it would take another form. Like, "I'll bet they were drinking Colt 45..." or something.

4. There were protests outside the WH today exactly like that according to some reporters.
They said they should be having lemonade instead.

Excerpt:

Beer sends the “wrong message to our nation’s youth who are becoming alcoholics at young ages,” said Rocky Twyman, founder of Pray at the Pump, in a statement this morning. “Whether or not he likes it, President Obama is a role model for all the youth in America. His actions count.” <...>

The Woman’s Christian Temperance Union also isn’t happy. “There are so many other beverages he could have chosen that would have served just as well,” said president Rita K. Wert, suggesting lemonade or iced tea.

9. We're so damn puritanical in this country
actually, Puritanical is a misnomer since the Puritans (being Calvinists), almost to a man, drank quite heartily and ran breweries and distilleries. "Drink is in itself a good creature of God, and should be received with thanksgiving" said Puritan theologian Increase Mather. But this uptight taboo attitude is part of the problem, frankly. Most people can moderately enjoy adult beverages with no trouble, these uppity fundamentalists need to get over themselves. Indeed, some more conservative Calvinists see these teetotallers to be heretics. Rational, level-headed people generally see no issue with this sort of thing. Indeed, if Obama is to be a role model what can be better than to model responsible, moderate imbibing? We'd have nowhere near the trouble we have with sex and booze if we'd just be open and intelligent about it.

6. Just wait.....
they will probably have someone out tomorrow to attack the beer drinking.;)

They have speculated on everything Obama, mostly in detrimental ways, except whether he wears boxers or briefs. Whatever the answer was, someone would have a problem with that. They are like piranha in a feeding frenzy.

It was a good word. It works well.:toast:
