PLEASE call Congress switchboard & ask for emergency funding for CARS program to continue
AmericanVoices@mail.house.gov
or call (202) 224-3121

This bill was actually helping produce a better environment in this country by taking off gas-guzzling road hogs from the highways, and was giving sales to dealers and the sale of a vehicle, that would now result in a new car being replaced by it on the lot, and eventually new production - not to mention the cost savings to the consumer having a 10MPG better fuel mileage in most cases while getting a more reliable car to drive to work, take ill family & friends to appointments who rely on them, and many other positives.

PLEASE call or write a quick comment to Congress stating they need to seek emergency funding to keep this from being suspended too long. This was a plan that everyone was watching and, it's embarrassing they suspended it instead of just asking Congress for additional funding.

The email/call can be as simple as this -
"Please get emergency funding for the CARS program. I know people who will use this if they get that credit, and will get their smog producing vehicle off the road. Thank you!"

Thanks!

1. Sooner, rather than later please.
I'm supposed to pick up a new car using this program tomorrow. :)

5. I believe so, yes, but...
The car dealer had off yesterday, and we're afraid he didn't submit the paperwork in time.

7. oh boy... I hope he did. But, I think with the breaking news late last night, that,
An Obama Administration official saying that the plan wasn't suspended, just that they're running out of the billion, and needed to consider more (oh, like the $3 Billion additional that the GOP whined and got removed?) funding.

SO, hopefully this will be done and you will be A-ok. Today will be odd, because dealers are gonna be totally confused unless an Obama WH official makes a clear statement about the plan being fine and keep going as normal as they seek additional funding.

Schumer ticked me off, because he said yesterday maybe they could add more funds, but maybe change the rules to make it be the worst of the worst gas-guzzlers - and I'm like, so help me, if they make it 16mpg and cut me out at 17mpg, when the '94 Crown Vic that I used every dollar I had to my name 3 years ago so I could have a running car to get my sick sibling to and from med appointments, is said to not qualify, then I will be super-disatisfied in my govt's ability to do anything right. They need to stick to the rules for the plan, and those rules said they may add funds to it, not change the dynamics of the vehicles accepted. A new car assures that I can drive my sibling 1000 miles away to see our father's grave, I would never take him being handicapped in the old unreliable vehicle that is getting might old.

Best of luck to you getting yours done today, somehow!!!

2. Done and done, but the temp. suspension was really the only choice
They didn't appropriate any other funds toward the project, and I'd bet they didn't expect it all to be gone that quickly.

3. Thank you for doing both, I did too. I am very happy that this program was even started,
of course, the GOP fought against it, but the positives for doing it are immense - environmental emissions lowered, 25 million further miles per full tank of gas from the 250,000 new cars replacing the old ones, new manufacturing needing to fill empty sales lots, less costs to drive for consumers.

I hope they fund it with several billion, so everyone who has a big gas guzzler can get it off the road and into something healthier for the planet, and to save on gas.

One of the most important factors in this is that you have to have insurance up to date for a year or more on the clunker, that means it's being driven! All these new cars are replacing these smog producers!

6. Only if they expand the program to bicycles
I wouldn't even want four grand for my old bike.

I'd settle for $400.
