Joan Walsh, editor of Salon, told MSNBC’s Chris Matthews on Thursday that conservative pundits like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh were projecting when they called President Barack Obama a racist, adding that she feels a sense of pride now that Limbaugh has dubbed her the “magic honky.”

The remarks came during a segment about the increasing racial tide among the president’s critics.

“President Obama is so race obsessed that he writes a book about the father that he never knew, subtitle of the story ‘Of Race and Inheritance,’” said Limbaugh during his Thursday broadcast. “He marries a woman who’s lucky enough to get into Princeton, who writes a book about how she’s always an outsider in white culture. Then the two of them sit in Reverend Wright’s hate temple of black liberation theology for 20 years, and I am the one with the race problem?”
