If health reform fails, we can thank the liars and propaganda hate-mongers on right-wing radio
People like Glen Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh, Coulter, Savage, etc have been filling the airwaves with pure lies and outright fabrications over the past few months in an attempt to torpedo any of Obama's goals, with health reform being their primary target. They get their fanatical sheeple base all riled up, and order them to do their 'patriotic duty' and flood the congressional switchboards with calls. The RNC takes out ads on local radio spewing even MORE lies and propaganda.

This is serious stuff here. People are DYING because of lack of health coverage, and all the rethugs can think of is trying to score cheap political victories. Rethug congressmen are absolutely giddy at the prospect of handing Obama a defeat on health care reform - the people be damned.

THIS is why we need some sort of Fairness Doctrine reinstated. By spewing complete lies and fabrications on topics such as health care reform and climate change, these right-wing propagandist hatemongers are literally putting people's lives at stake!

3. The radio hatemongers don't have votes in Congress
DLC/Blue Cross "democrats" do. They are the ones fucking this whole thing up. The Repukes are irrelevant at this point.

5. I think that many rethugs and Blue Dogs are emboldened by right-wing radio propaganda
These hatemongers and their listeners do not make up a majority of this country. But they are a VERY vocal section. When their phone lines are being jammed by people telling them to vote against any health care reform, it only serves to embolden them.

8. Sometimes I wonder if they do
All you have to do is look at how the whole idiotic "birther" movement is still hanging in there, with their propaganda masters urging them on. Which leads to Congressmen trying to sponsor bills that would require presidential candidates to disclose copies of their birth certificates. A bill like that would never have even been seriously considered if it weren't for the frothy-mouthed right-wing hackjobs.

13. thats right they don't
Their control of the message has been abysmal.
You would think in their 8 years in the wilderness, now with the majority in both houses and the white house... they would have figured out what to do and say. Figured out what they needed to do to get ALL their programs done, with the public in full support of them.
The pugs would have.
why when i turn on my tv, all i see is pugs and their message. I blame the dems for this, for not being force full and calling in markers to retake the airwaves and the message.
Im mad about this. They are pissing away a once in a century opportunity and giving it all back to the evildoers. I will withhold all monies unless they do some changing and not be wishy washy with our fucking future.

7. I think we can blame a bunch of turn coat Blue Dogs.
We don't need the wing nut's votes. The Blue Dogs are screwing things up for money and power. They don't seem to care about the wants and needs of their voters. They are already bought and paid for by the health care industry.

Radio kooks are preaching to their own choir. They are scary because of their ability whip up extreme hate in their right wing extremist listeners.

11. So how are you going to thank them?
No, really. Everybody talks about Limbaugh and Beck, but nobody does anything about them. They have national sponsors. They are making a buttload of money, and when we're talking about Limbaugh, a buttload is a considerable amount.

You can make fun of them, but they are able to make more effective fun of YOU, and they can trash any laws or people you might like. Letters don't do anything. Posting here doesn't do anything. They are about to get President Obama lynched from a tall tree on the White House Lawn, and nobody is able to stop them.

So, come on. Tell me in specific terms how you are going to thank them. We're waiting.

12. It will also be because progressives have no ground-roots organization
that can pull progressives together and organize the masses. We are too busy fighting among ourselves. Single payer advocates shun those who want a public option and visa versa and if Obama doesn't speak to our special little interest we become twisted in a knot and meanwhile the conservatives in huge numbers organize and scare the shit out of a public that just several months ago were in favor of massive healthcare reform.

15. Funny. I'll blame Congress and Obama instead.
If they have 60 votes in the Senate and a huge lead on seats in the House and can't get it done, then it falls squarely on their shoulders. This isn't sports where a bad position player or two can be exploited for a disproportionate advantage. They each have a vote. If Obama and Pelosi and Reid can't rally them, then they're failures, and at least 2 of the 3 should be replaced by other leaders in short order, and the rest of the Houses should figure out why the hell they aren't communicating effectively with their constituents.

16. K & R. I could NOT believe the shit I was hearing on the radio today.
I haven't listened to any of that garbage for a long time - but I'd seen and heard about the insanity on DU and on the news reports.

Laura Ingram said today we were literally one step away from having the government haul away your still-living parents and anyone over 40 if they dared to fall ill - and put them to death.

18. No, I'll thank the useless fucking Senate thank you.
There is a 60 vote majority, if we don't get Health Reform with a real public option, then we can thank the spineless fucking Democrats in the House and Senate.

It's time to call, to write and to YELL! And trust me, I'm not saying you're not beating your head against the wall, because most all of them are bought and paid for and they could really care less about you or what you need.

Ain't America grand?

23. The Dems should not have compromised from the beginning...
the Republicans fight against a plan that the Dems took off the table when they excluded SP advocates from the discussion.

AHIP and drug companies now running adds in support of this reform for mandated insurance. AHIP was the group who attacked SICKO as detailed on the Bill Moyers program with Wendell Potter.

All they had to do was give them a seat at the table, never mind call on them to make a statement.

Silencing groups who pose the greatest challenge to the insurance companies does not produce a strong public option.

Look how the other side is negotiating health reform, they are running ads attacking a system that the Democrats have taken off the table!

Yet the Democrats start out saying "I'm in favor a single-payer system, but..." we'll never get that so I'll ask for less.

They discarded their greatest asset in this fight from the beginning..so then one has to ask WHY?

24. We can also blame another confusing mess of corporate-friendly reform
Single Payer is easy to understand. You like Medicare. Give it to everyone. What Obama and the Congress is peddling is garbage.

It's very easy to lay all the blame on the right-wing. They deserve some of it.

But we need to put forth reform that is easy to understand that people instantly recognize will make their lives better.

The centrist took away all the wrong lessons from the Clinton attempt at reform.

25. We need a grand strategy to put an end to those bastards.
I doubt the Fairness Doctrine would be enough. We have to expose them for the hypocritical lying bastards that they are, bury them so deep in their own mire that their own flocks consider them beyond redemption.
