Hutchison Campaign Site Contains Hidden Phrase, 'Rick Perry Gay'
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/2009/07/hutchison-campaign-site-contains-hidden-phrase-rick-perry-gay.php?ref=fpblg

A web site for the gubernatorial campaign of Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) included hidden phrases including "rick perry gay," a reporter from the Austin American-Statesman discovered today.

Hutchison officials said they used a tool that automatically generated keywords based on popular search terms. Such a tool could drive more web traffic to the site, StandByKay.com.

"We did not know these offensive word associations were being searched for by hundreds of thousands of Texans everyday nor do we condone the computer-generated existence on our Web site," Hutchison spokesman Jeff Sadosky told the Austin American-Statesman. He said the offending phrase will be removed.

2. Interesting
Well, that's what you get for using turnkey tools. Although personally, I think the keyword generator excuse is suspect. If one were using such a tool, there normally would be a wizard/dialogue process that would ask the user to approve the keywords before they were embedded in the head tag.

4. Search terms
Would a lot of searches for "Kay Bailey Hutchison Governor Lesbian BDSM Porn" would affect the meta-tags?

5. Anyone else remember the story about Perry and the Secretary of State?
Supposedly his wife, Anita Perry, caught him in a compromising position with the Secretary of State in the Guv's Mansion (before it burned)...maybe it had something in common with a hot-sheet motel...
