Poll: 28% Of Republican Base Are Birthers
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/07/poll-28-of-republican-base-are-birthers.php?ref=fpblg

By Eric Kleefeld - July 31, 2009, 9:09AM

A new Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll finds that 77% of Americans believe President Obama was Indeed Born in the United States, with only 11% saying he was not -- but there's no clear verdict among Republicans.

Among Republicans, it's a much weaker plurality of only 42% who say Obama was born in the U.S., with 28% saying he was not. Among Democrats, the number is 93%-4%, and among independents it's 83%-8%.

This means that for Republicans to openly admit that Obama is indeed a natural-born American citizen, they risk alienating a significant chunk of their loyal base. And on the other hand, they could scare away independents by humoring the tin-foil hat crowd.

----

So 28% of the roughly 30% of adults who are still Republicans really are nuts. Who would have guessed?

4. I want the "birthers" to produce the birth certificate.
The Kenyan one.

To date, all I heard about it was an ebay auction that got pulled rapidly.

Had there been an actual Kenyan birth certificate, it'd be out there already. But, there is not.

Plus the other fact announcing President Obama's birth in Hawaii 9 days afterwards is overlooked too.

5. Have you noticed that the percentage barely varies whether it's 'birthers' or W lovers or Palin
supporters? I firmly believe that 28 to 30% of the population is either insane or dumber than dirt.

7. Remember, these are the same mental-midgets that wanted to give Palin the nuclear codes
The repubs are one scary group of mental defectives. Be careful and be armed and ready when they blow a gasket. These are our domestic terrorists disguising themselves as patriots, when in reality they are simple minded puppets of Limbaugh, Hannity and Beck.

8. Those 28% drive the popular media discussion
And to hell with the 67% of Americans who want a public option or single payer health insurance. No coverage for them, because they're whackos. Or something. Instead, we get hour after hour of uninformed, deliberately ignorant bloviating about settled questions of where someone was born.
