How come my jalopy ain't considered a clunker (cash for clunkers)
My 1996 Mazda Protege requires more work then it is worth. It won't pass NYS inspection.

Yet it is not considered worthy of cash..

But a 2000 Hummer would be considered a "clunker"..

wtf?

1. It's sort of moot at this point, isn't it? Haven't they halted the program?

3. I have an F700 that is worth more then my car
It would cost more to fix my car then the car is worth. It is the definition of a clunker.

6. Because you bought a high milage car back then
same deal for me. By conserving then, we are cheated now.

7. The Protege was an efficient vehicle to start with..
I had one, it got close to thirty mpg.

The idea behind the program is to get gas guzzlers off the street I believe.

8. The Hummer was a clunker while it was new and on the dealer's lot.
I don't know why anyone would drive one of those ugly pieces of shit.

9. It's OK, I've got 5 from 1991 to 2002 and none of them qualify for the program. Lowest mileage for
the 1995 Vovlo Station Wagon with about 21 MPG.
