Store Executives Laud Idea At Orlando Meeting

ORLANDO, Fla. -- U.S. health officials are considering placing swine flu vaccination sites in Wal-Marts.

At a meeting of the National Association of County and City Health officials in Orlando, Wal-Mart executives expressed a desire to have the sites located inside their stores.

Wal-Mart said with 140 million people at the company's stores each week, the move would help ensure the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to be able to get the vaccines to the 160 million people who will need it.

Days ago the CDC announced that the swine flu vaccine would need to be administered to 40 percent of the population. Atop he list would be pregnant women, child care workers, health care workers, children more than 6 months old and nonelderly adults from the ages of 19-24 who have high-risk medical conditions.

4. I'm not taking any vaccines either
And if other people are worried about it. If they've been vaccinated themselves, then, there's no need for them to worry.

5. It's a clever marketing ploy on their part.
Play the altruistic "caring for the community" routine, and get people to come into the store.

They come into the store for their shots, they're remember that they need _________ (fill in the blank), and, so long as they're "right there anyway" they do a little shopping.

Walmart makes money, and comes off looking like Harry Helpful.

6. I dislike WalMart but why shouldn't they do this?
Our local supermarkets give flu shots.
The shots have to be given where the people are and unfortunately a lot of people shop at WalMart.
