Rightwing Disruptors Going To Democratic Townhalls To Cause Problems. PAY ATTENTION!

And don't just say "Good" when news reports come out about Townhalls going haywire.

PA Democrat posted this on a thread about disruptors at a Tim Bishop Townhall Meeting in Setauket, Long Island.

This is NOT about concerned citizens voicing their opinions. It's about asshole Republicans intentionally making things difficult. Thanks to PA Dem for posting the following info as it explains what was going on. Bishop would fairly represent most DU'ers on most issues.

The attacks are being orchestrated by Freedom Works

Think Progress has a leaked Freedom Works memo which instructs their activists on how to best disrupt Democrats' town hall meetings. Just a few of their suggested tactics:

– Be Disruptive Early And Often: “You need to rock-the-boat early in the Rep’s presentation, Watch for an opportunity to yell out and challenge the Rep’s statements early.”

– Try To “Rattle Him,” Not Have An Intelligent Debate: “The goal is to rattle him, get him off his prepared script and agenda. If he says something outrageous, stand up and shout out and sit right back down. Look for these opportunities before he even takes questions.”

1. Saw it in S Central New Mexico

Our local Dem Party got a heads-up about the bad time the tea-baggers gave our new Democratic US Rep Harry Teague in Roswell NM (yes, THAT Roswell...full of rightwingers) so we showed up and out numbered the tea baggers in Alamogordo, NM to show our support for our Rep. Later, I heard that when he appeared at a Rotary meeting, he was given a really bad time. Grrrr

Harry keeps an office with regular hours (every Thursday beginning at 1:30) and I intend to go there with a book, just to keep an eye on things.

2. Republicans are afraid of facts.

They'll do anything possible to cover up fact...as long as there's no real risk to themselves, of course.

Get out there and support your Representatives, if they deserve it. If enough people show up, they Republicans will slink away or sit silently stewing in their own bile.

Later, they'll talk about what they were "going to do."

After that, they'll call *us* thugs. :)

I attended a town-hall meeting with Tim Murphy (R, district 18, PA) last weekend and there was a very loud, vocal anti-reform contingent in attendence. They shouted down people whose opinion they didn't like.
