Senate Boosts Food Stamps..1 in 9 Americans recieve stamps as of May

WASHINGTON - The Senate on Tuesday passed a $124.3 billion agriculture spending bill that pays to add millions of people to the food stamp rolls as rising numbers of the jobless are forced into the program.

Money for the federal school lunch program is going up 12 percent as well, while a popular program that gives additional food aid for poor children and pregnant women received a 9 percent increase in funding.

The bill passed by a 80-17 vote

11. The food stamp program was proposed and sponsored by Senator George Mc Govern

in the early 60s as part of the attempt to feed the poor. It was run through the Ag Department because Mc Govern was from South Dakota..a highly agricultural state. I met him only once, at the 68 Convention, and said thank you for this program. He really smiled and lit up. I guess that was a moment that was a moment I will never forget.

We sponsored food stamps, social security, medicare, minimum wage, workman's comp, 8 hour day, and so on. The list is very long for caring about all..

Republicans care about the rich and themselves..
just look at that list of NOs..
