38. That is not how an HSA works...
An HSA is a high-deductible plan. You put $5000 into a special account. Then you pay your monthly insurance premiums on a high-deductible plan. That premium is lower due to the high deductible. Nothing is covered until you hit the $5000, then the plan kicks in and pays after that.

If you have very little health problems, you can end up with the $5000 left over at the end of the year (all tax free money). It stays in the account (and can be invested if you wish) for use in later years. The one advantage of the HSA is that it pays for things insurance companies do not pay for such as accupunture, vitamins, eye care, dental, etc. Any payments out of the $5000 is tax free.

By the nature of the plans, they attract higher income people. Nothing in the current bill prohibits people from keeping their HSA. In fact, I wonder if the number of HSA compatible plans would not be larger due to more competition in a health exchange.

Edited on Thu Aug-13-09 05:08 PM by Hansel
http://www.spike.com/video/glenn-beck-russia-is/2785203

She joins up in Dec, 2006. Co-inky-dink? I think not.

Here's part of what he's babbling about.

"I'd like to take our attention back to something just a little more important. I like to call it the end of western civilization. Call me crazy. Today we're going to talk about the threat from Russia. You're sitting there thinking "Russia!". I swear to you in 5 minutes you are going think it's one of the most important issues that we face."

"What I want to start with is the politics of war. Uhmmm, we, we, we've got to be very who we elect to lead us in war time. And, eh, eh, eh we all think that voting is a right. But with that right comes a responsibility to do our homework and put people in office who have the country's best intentions at heart and are honest."

"The wrong people may not just disagree internally, they may actually circumvent the president and help the enemy. You think that's outrageous? Listen to the real story. Of what one of our politicians during the cold war with Russia. According to an author and political science professor Paul Kangor, Senator Ted Kennedy was so upset the way President Reagan was handling the Cold War that he actually reached out to the Soviet Union and offered to help them. His motivation was not only to stop Reagan's "belligerence" that he thought would lead us to nuclear war, but also to influence the 1984 election. Kennedy denies this saying that the allegations are WAY off the mark, but unfortunately for Ted Kennedy, a released KGB memo from 1983 says the opposite."

He blabs on about Kerry, politicians helping the enemy, Russian arms race with US reigniting, Russia's opposition against resolutions against Iran, Russia's #1 supplier of weapons to developing world and China, supplying Iran with weapons and fighter jets. He goes on about how Russia selling arms to our biggest enemies (Iran) totally missing the irony about his earlier BS story about Kennedy and what he supposedly did to Reagan.

Then he prattles on about how Russia plans for the future included controlling Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordon, Egypt, and Israel--basically a modern day Byzantine empire. Some Russian politician's plan is to befriend the Muslim world and tell them Russia has the weapons of power and they have a billion people. Let's work together. Then they are going to replace the U.S.'s influence and "WALLA!" Russian controlled Byzantine Empire.

Exciting huh.

And Katy Abram fell for it hook line and sinker.

Edit to add: Just Google Beck and Russia.

Edited on Thu Aug-13-09 04:21 PM by orleans
yesterday and he had her on to "interview" her

she said at specter's town hall that she was 33 and never interested in politics until now--that he has "awakened a sleeping giant" (oh please!) that we're losing the country and should get back to the way the founding fathers intended it in the constitution.

so...lawrence asks her if we should get rid of medicare (because that's not in the constitution) and her answer...duh...i don't know

so...lawrence asks her if we should get rid of social security because that wasn't in the constitution either. her answer? duh...i don't know...

ugh. i think she's on the road to becoming a cute, young, little sarah palin if she keeps getting so much air play. she'll be leading a cult following that's as fucking stupid as she is!

I can't find anything about the husband. They are well off, as she stated to Lawrence O'Donnell (her friend she was arguing with is "on the opposite end of the spectrum"). I see one reference to Sam Abram, real estate developer, but the link is broken. Then a Sam Abram is listed as owning a storage unit company, but no further info turns up.

But now we know she is getting her marching orders from Glenn $18M/Yr Beck.

At about 3:10 on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hotUL4Lm1bg

(The video is not very good - sometimes the picture freezes and the sound continues. On some of the same person's other videos, there is no sound but the video continues.)

He says at the beginning of his question that he is not with any group.

At 5:50 is the beginning of the nutjob that made the news raising hell.

Katy had question number 7 - she's on this video from the same person, about 4:20: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LkeR-Y_yx4

Here is how it looks from my perspective. Obama and crew are hell bent on applying their utopian view to this country, whether we like it or not. They aren't listening to the people or including Republicans in law making at all. It's still "all Bu...

61. So, she lied! She's an organizer and
3 year member of Glenn Beck's 'movement'. She says she dropped out for a few months, feeling 'overwhelmed' for a while. That doesn't sound like someone who has never been involved in politics.

O'Donnell needs to invite her back to clear up some of these 'mis-statements' she made.

A Glenn Beck 'groupie'! How dumb do you have to be to be to end up as a Glenn Beck groupie. His ratings on CNN were so low they finally had to get rid of him. They are the outer fringes of society.

I hate to say it but she makes Sarah Palin look like a genius. Which means she will probably land a show on Fox.

Someone should get screen shots of the websites in case they disappear.

45. The hyper-emotional children at these rallies shouting about "their America" are all Glenn Beck fans
He fills a void in their lives and makes them feel like they're part of something momentous and important. I felt pity and sadness watching Katy Abram on television.

She's organizing for a cause she doesn't even understand, can't articulate. And why should she? It makes no sense.

50. If I recall, Lebanon, PA has a large contingent of the KKK
As does Ephrata, PA.

The fact that Abrams is a Beck fan is not at all surprising nor is it that she's a conservative. Lancaster County, PA is one huge pocket of conservatism with some liberals sprinkled in just to annoy them.

Meeting minutes from 4/4/2009

Meet and greet. Introduced ourselves and why we were there. 14 were in attendence.
There were many of us who used words like "afraid, worried, angry" regarding the state of our country. Many just want their country back and the government to stop interfering. Katy reiiterated that our cause is not to form a militia or to point the fingers at the right or left side of the aisle. There are problems across the entire system. We need to get back to the founding fathers principles.

Our purpose
The 9-12 project is designed to bring us all back to the place we were on September 12, 2001. The day after America was attacked we were not obsessed with Red States, Blue States or political parties. We were united as Americans, standing together to protect the values and principles of the greatest nation ever created.

Read the 9-12 Principles and Values
What can we do on a local level?
Find people who represent the principles and values of 912.

Form a book club for those interested in reading some of Glenn Beck’s suggested reading (i.e. “The 5,000 Year Leap”, The Real George Washington, The Real Thomas Jefferson, The Real Benjamin Franklin etc)
-Annette will head the book club. Beginning with “The 5,000 Year Leap.”

Discussed events coming up:
a) Harrisburg Tea Party(Wed., April 15th 12-1pm at West Side
entrance to Rotunda)
b) 2nd Amendment Rally: April 22nd 10am-3:30pm
c) One member has a 15 passenger van. We agreed we can carpool amongst those attending various events.

Do we have a monthly, bi-weekly meeting?
We will meet every 4-6 weeks. We will try to meet outside if weather permits. Annette said her teenager is good with kids and can watch other children during meetings. Next meeting will be held at Katy Abram’s house. She has a play structure and patio to accommodate us. We will try to keep it to parks, residences, etc due to it being loud at restaurants etc.

Discussed website and forums for communications for our local group. Networking with other groups in PA and nationwide.
a) Eliminating the Qlubb.com site and switching to http://lebanonpa912project.ning.com/
By using the ning.com site we can utilize the live chat room, blog, posting pictures, videos, links, and we can monitor our own incoming emails (if you don’t want emails you can set up your account to suit those needs).
b) Join www.the912project.com (Glenn beck’s site)
a) Go to 912 project.com and vote for The Top 50 Wish List of what we want our demands to be to the government

Discussed what has been culminating in the creation of groups throughout the country.
a) http://wesurroundthem-pa.ning.com/
b) http://wesurroundthemusa.ning.com/
Katy has been in contact with other organizers from across the country and the state through the above sites. We are attempting to coordinate different groups in a united effort (Constitution Party members, Commonwealth Foundation members, etc) for the greater good.

Dealing with the media
a) http://www.congress.org/...
Here you can insert your zip code to get info on all your media outlets (radio, TV, newspapers, etc). Contact them!!!!
You can also have your representatives votes emailed to you each week to keep tabs on them. Their info is on www.congress.org as well.
****Subscribe to your rep’s weekly newsletter.
b) Go to the morning meeting to pitch story ideas with WGAL
(i.e. tea parties, rallies etc) . It begins at 9:30am-10am
@ http://www.wgal.com/...

Do we want to have different people take on various aspects of the club?
We realize we need some type of structure. This will be determined hopefully at the next meeting. In the meantime we want to keep communications open and educate eachother on the founders and the principles. Also Adam Wheelan volunteered to be a researcher for our group. If you have something you want researched (especially on a local level for our group) please contact him or post on the site.

********Arlen Spector is up for reelection 2010
http://www.ourcountrydeservesbetter.... to contact our senators and their staff. First and foremost, call, and then fax, then email. That is the order of efficacy.

We also discussed pooling our resources (i.e. books, audio books, DVD's) to further educate ourselves. This is a way to avoid spending any undue money. We can share our resources and information.
