Where does stupidity come from?

New poll finds that 39 percent of Americans want government to ‘stay out of Medicare.’ :wtf:

2. To take your question literally, imo one of the biggest causes of...
"stupidity" is lack of curiosity ~ some people never wonder how anything works.

7. In a word, parents.
Unfortunately, ignorance is passed down generationally for the most part.

On a side note, I've often found it odd that so many people don't associate Medicare with the government, but it seems like everyone knows Social Security comes from the government. I mean, they're both based on a payroll tax that's taken out of your paycheck.

Maybe it's because they get their SS money directly from the government (e.g., a check), whereas they never see the money that Medicare pays their doctor?

5. Laziness. Willful ignorance.
It's much easier to regurgitate info, whether true or not, and pretend to be smart than to actually have to think, process information and formulate you own conclusions.

In short, all of the STOOPID in the world originates from Glen Beck and Rush Limbaugh.

They are the Big Bang of STOOPID.

6. Office FReep says that he wants to refuse it so he can spend his money elsewhere.
And buy private insurance...

So...if the private market can provide a better product for seniors...why didn't the Republican run government enable this option back in 2000 to 2006?

Um...uh...yer a socialist!!!

Of course...it was all the fault of the IRS...I used the 'personal accountability' line on him...it's really priceless.

In caveman days, if you were stupid, evolution weeded you out. Now with civilization, it is easier for the stupid to survive and procreate. Idiocracy is coming...

And it shows no sign of slowing down today.

28. thank you
I'm not an atheist, I believe in a god or supreme being, or beings or something that helped get all this started in motion, but for the love of the FSM the world is billions of years old, not 7,000 and all the running around with their fingers in their ears going "la la la I can't hear you" that organized religion teaches them is really a large boil on the ass of progress. :(

19. That's a weird question though. I would be interested in the answer to a more
straight-forward (non-tricky) question, asking whether Medicare was run by the government or a corporation. I wonder how many would say it was run by a private corporation??

26. Fear.
Fear will make a normal person a complete idiot. The Repubs know this and they use it. That's why they make such outrageous claims. Socialism, death panels, Hitler, whatever they can use to drum up enough fear so they can control their constituency.
