What Obama needs to do to get dems in his party to support Health Care (public option)
He needs to take a page from LBJ and get tough with these blue dogs/obstructionist dems.

1) Tell him this is an issue which will either make or break his presidency and if he is broken he isn't going alone. This is the number one issue he (Obama) and most other dems were elected on and it's a party priority--you're either for us or against us.

2) Obama to wavering Senator #1: "Now, I'd love to approve that pet project of yours down there in Florida, Bill. You're always talking about the budget deficit and I know this project is on our list of possible cuts--of course we could get billions in savings over time with a health bill including a public option. Now if you could see it our way on that, I'll make sure your project is approved and fully funded for five years!"

3) Obama to wavering Senator #2: "Yes, Mary I got your proposal for that judgeship in New Orleans. But, I don't know the Attorney General is hesitant. What? it's pretty important to you. Well, I understand. You know health care with a public option is damn important to me. I'd sure like to see you with us on that and maybe I could get the Attorney General to see it your way on that judgeship and future judgeships in Louisiana."

4) Obama to wavering Senator #3: "Yeah, Joe I know your up for re-election in CT in '12, it won't be like in '06--that's for sure. The turnout will be much higher. Lots of Democrats will be going to the polls--being a presidential election year and all. I, of course, need to support the democratic nominee that year and campaign for him and raise money. Now I won CT in '08 with 62% and we will do well again there in '12. Of course if you're with us on health care, including a public option you might have a better shot and I might not campaign there as hard as I could. What about it, Joe?"

5) Obama to wavering Senator #4: "Yes, Evan I know I said I would attend your fund raiser in Indianapolis, but something came up on my schedule. When can I reschedule? Geez, things look pretty busy for the foreseeable future. What? Oh yes, I'm doing fundraisers for Sherrod Brown and Barb Boxer. Why them and not you? Well, my schedule is open on those dates."
