1. Hell... four or five times a summer, we read stories about parents leaving their CHILDREN in a car |
|
Though... a poster depicting a baby in an oven would be a little too controversial.

3. The problem with people leaving their children in cars is more likely a matter |
|
of having honestly forgotten they had their children with them (because of being too busy) rather than of failing to take them out of the car, not realizing how hot it would become.
I think we're doing a better job of educating people that leaving children in a car is bad, and it is becoming more of an accidental behavior than a purposefully ignorant one--or at least there the issue is more two-pronged: educate the ignorant AND warn the educated but overworked, multitasking parent that great caution needs to be taken to ensure children are not forgotten in the course of a busy day.
With animals, however, I think there are just a lot of people who think that if they just crack the window and leave the car for a few minutes while they "run in" to get something, the dog will be OK.

4. Sad irony, Richomond, VA |

In a tragic mistake, the head of the SPCA lost his 16 year old dog to a hot car. He didn't know it was in there. Apparently his wife let it in the back earlier and he took off to visit a couple of sites, unaware of this. It was 91 degrees out. That's just sad.
