PBS Newshour doing a great segment debunking all of the RW spin on Health Care
Shocking stats - by the polling that they just reported, around 50% of respondents - 50%! - have swallowed the right wing propaganda. This segment is doing a rational, great time essentially debunking every one of five major health care myths....but who will watch, who will listen, and how is it possible to change the minds of those who are so proud of their stupidity and ignorance?

These times are making it very hard to not feel superior and smug - the gulf between the enlightened and the gullible/ignorant/stupid is getting larger and larger. My wife and I can just shake our heads and wonder where this is all heading...

5. So many dividing lines these days.
Left vs. right. City vs. country. The South vs. Everybody Else. But I think you've hit on the main dividing line (which, eerily, aligns quite well with the others I mentioned). It's brains. One side of this debate is simply much less informed, much less educated, and much less intelligent than the other side, although they are definitely angrier and better armed (and more religious).

This is not a setup for a functioning society.

6. they are also more persistent and louder - and more energized. an issue -
I think that one trait of the more intelligent/educated is that they think that reason and fact should be obvious and win the day....but when put up against the strength of embedded belief systems (esp. with a dash of fundamental religion), fact and reason just doesn't exist.

So very simple - it is time to stop screwing around and do what is right for the country - go with reconciliation, realize that the Dems are in control and push a good Health Care reform bill onto the country.

9. 50%?!?! Gee that number sounds familiar...
As I recall, it was somewhat less than 50% of Americans that bought the pre-Iraq war lies lock, stock and barrel. We already know ~30% of Americans have a complete lack of cognitive thought and will buy whatever the RW shoves down their throats -- it appears there are at least another 20% that are easily swayed by propaganda.
