13. In the letter, Teddy asked for the pope to pray for him (because of his illness)

... and he told the pope he treasured his Catholic faith, and has tried to follow it (despite his human failings), and listed the things he's tried to do as a senator that were in line with the church's teachings (all the things he's done for those who need help, basically).

And the pope's secretary wrote back and said the pope would pray for him.
