My NC Democratic Party sent me this SHIT to get me to come to FINRA EVENT!
Edited on Sun Aug-30-09 07:29 PM by KoKo
They sent me a promotion...heavy weight/four color brochure from FINRA alerting me that I could be prey to "Investment Scams" and on September 21, I should show up to an event to "alert Senior Citizens to Investment Scams" sponsered by Our Government...FINRA and our North Carolina Democratic Secretary of State Elaine Marshall (who, I thought was a PROGRESSIVE!)

Hubby and I were appalled...that we should be on such a mailing list from our Dem Sec. of State. We went to the Website listed in the brochure and found out it was targeted to Military Families with another link to target 55+ year old CHINESE (Senior Citizen) FAMILIES!

I am so disgusted that Obama and our Congress approved FUNDS FOR THIS SCAM...that I'm :banghead: and worse.

Anyway, here's the deal...Summers and Geithner are telling Obama to try to get everyone they can to INVEST...INVEST...Old CHINESE...People who some CRAP PROGRAM identified as indigent Americans in the South who might be Scammed (NOT KOKO or her HUBBY) and make sure they ATTEND THIS PROGRAM so they can choose the CORRECT/UNCORRUPTED INVESTMENT ADVISOR!

http://www.finrafoundation.org/web/groups/foundation/@foundation/documents/foundation/p118784.jpgFINRA Foundation-funded research, unveiled in July 2006, shattered the stereotypes of senior investment fraud victims. The fraud victim profile was counterintuitive in many respects. For instance, victims were often financially knowledgeable men.

In addition, the influence tactics used by fraudsters were shown to be sophisticated and highly effective. These findings forced regulators and advocates alike to rethink how best to approach the challenge of equipping older investors with the tools and information they need to thwart fraudsters touting investment scams.

The FINRA Foundation subsequently initiated a research-based, social change campaign designed to reduce the incidence of investment fraud among investors ages 55 and over by helping them:

* Recognize they are vulnerable to financial fraud
* Identify persuasion techniques
* Reduce risky behaviors by asking questions and checking information.

And THIS was the MAILER I got: (btw...it was targeted to Military Families...Hubby and I are NOT Military Families)

1. I know this isn't the kind of post that gets any readers here on DU these days...
Edited on Sun Aug-30-09 07:04 PM by KoKo
but if you are near 50 or older...I hope if you get something in the mail like this these days from the Dem Party...you will understand my anger. I corrected typo's and such in the post... I was so freaked out after I went to the links ...I posted with some anger... Just hope that Dems will be on the lookout for stuff like this.

We are very frugal Dems...to get on some mailing list like this (we are not AARP Members) to be targeted as if we are parents of Chinese Children or Indigent and don't know how to take care of our finances from our Democratic Party (I'm a Precinct Co-Chair) was just too much. I wish Obama would dump these people ...how do they have the money to put out a brochure "4-PAGE/4 COLOR" to constituents that aren't part of their target audience... All our TAXPAYER DOLLARS to SCAM~!

3. Yep...You got it, too...and did you go to the links?
Edited on Sun Aug-30-09 07:17 PM by KoKo
It was shocking! Check out how they lead Military through 401-K Investing:

Why would Hubby and Me get this crap from Dem Party? We are NOT MILITARY and not 55+ Chinese Parents!

 You tell me why they are wasting money with us? Mailings, brochure costs, marketing. BIG BUCKS...for NOT their TARGET AUDIENCE!

5. I didn't get it, I went to the links you gave
and discovered an invitation to learn about investing.

Nothing nefarious whatsoever.

7. And...are you MILITARY? Do you INVEST? Are you Near Age 55?
If you are then what did you find from what links you were given? Did you find good investment advice there? Or, did you find the WWII Military Video got you thinking you were part of the Avenging Army against the Nazi's that then you had to listen to the commercials for various financial sites that were hawking their wares on that video from the first link?

Are you a Chinese Parent of an American Citizen who might "click the link" for investments for age +55 and Up...(the link is under the photo in my post) and would you follow that advice?

I got the brochure in the mail from my Dem Party with my Secretary of State giving a speech at the event. The people pictured in the brochure were Chinese Couple, an African American Male and some elderly White Guy. Four Males of varying ethnic groups and one Chinese female on the front of the "mail brochure." Then the link for the "FOUR PAGE BROCHURE" was to a site called "SaveAndInvest" which I went to...and gave the links and follow through links for you guys to read in my Original OP... It was :banghead: time. I'm giving you an ALERT...you can take it or leave it.

8. .... I'm still angry over money being spent on this to target "Non-Military" Investors...
And the way they are doing it...putting pictures of older Chinese Investors on the Link which is just a link to a bunch of Stock Brokers who are "down on their luck" and got the GOV'T to finance this Boondoggle?

4. I'm completely confused.
Are you upset that someone thought you were poor? Or they thought you were Chinese?

Would it make you happier to know that seniors are routinely targeted by bucket shops and scam artists? And they like it even better if you're rich enough to have a second home? Nothing like concealing a churned account by sending a snowbird's statement to the wrong address.

As for being targeted as a military family, you wish. They have some wonderful banking, investment, and insurance options that are not available to the general public.

6. It was very hard for me to do this post to help people understand what I was angry about...
Edited on Sun Aug-30-09 07:27 PM by KoKo
If you click the links and watch the video targeted to Military Families and then go to the link from FINRA as to the senior citizens they are targeting for watchfulness against SCAMS and see the Photo and you wonder who THEY (DEMS) are targeting you might understand my anger.

Both of us watched the video's at the original site linked from brochure and then dug deep into the sit for more links.

I felt DU'ers needed to know this. I hope you will take time to go through the links like we did. And...it does take some time to understand what I'm talking about. It can't be perceived in a "SOUND BYTE" with a Subject Line that folks can lock on to. It can't be done in the typical DU Sound Bytes...and I wish I could have found a way. I just gave the links ...and those who are interested and who might be getting a MAILING in their STATES like I did in NC might want to be alerted so they can check it out too.
