The Persians never could hold the land either. They were all opposed and driven out. The Afghanis never tolerated outside interference, much less occupational armies.

They do NOT need our military, there.
How do we divert money from military operations into the hands of a strong, surviving people?
That's what I want to know. We do NOT have to be in the business of building their nation but can certainly contribute towards "compensation" for our destroying their nation,...can't we?
What is BAD about giving these people "compensation" for the destruction owned by us and allowing them the FREEDOM to rebuild their own nation? WHAT IS BAD, ABOUT THAT? Isn't that the just and democratic way? :shrug:
