8. Mika will definitely not "speak up more"
Her role is to be the obedient sidekick, the cute little lapdog to Scarblow's big strong manly he-man role.

"Acting!"
"Brilliant!"
"Thank you!"

30. This is especially true after the $$$$ made from Starbucks that I am sure she shared in.

How to Pay for Journalism? Morning Joe Brews a Lucrative Solution

I cursed my parents when I first heard about the product-placement deal MSNBC's Morning Joe had secured with Starbucks. The news-talk show, on which Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski regularly trade barbs over their choice of caffeinated beverage, is being paid upward of eight figures, according to the New York Times, to officially incorporate the beverage-pusher into its already coffee-themed logo.

Over ten million bucks! To drink coffee! Something I do every morning for free! And all because the show is called Morning Joe!

.............

10. I sent one.
Joe,
I could not stand to watch you treating Mika the way you're treating her this morning. I had to change the channel

It's true that fear can be a valid emotion, but it's also true that it can be used to manipulate people. Saying that is not saying that people are stupid, it's simply stating an obvious truth.

Saying things like "You talk like people are stupid" does not advance the conversation. It's a rhetorical trick intended to belittle and shut down your opponent and as such it is beneath someone such as yourself who is is the public eye and able to influence public opinion.

Your owe Mika and your viewers an apology.

Maybe your viewers should reevaluate whether or not to patronize your sponsors.

11. yours was much more polite than mine
I guess accusing him of being a bully and acting that way at home as well was perhaps a tad over the top . . .

oh well - he can be a class-A jerk.

15. Mine was crafted very carefully.
It was intended to produce change rather than simply vent my emotions.

Two important points.
  • I stated that his behavior caused me to change the channel.
  • I threatened him with a consumer boycott of his sponsors. (I'm certain that he's aware of what's happening with Beck.)
A calm letter threatening loss of ratings and sponsors will be more likely to get the attention of him and his producers.

29. I write to the show frequently - have had several read on the show
I was not rude - nor profane in any way - did not mean to imply that. Just used stronger words.

18. it's an act. a particularly vile one, but - do you really think brezinski's
daughter doesn't have enough pull to stop scarface if it offended her - or that she needs the job so bad?

19. Of course,
but enough letters like mine might cause them to modify that act. I mentioned that his behavior caused me to change the channel and that viewers may stop patronizing his sponsors. If he were to receive enough letters like that his producers would pressure him to change his act.

to get the "news" shows to switch their clown noses out, though.

The problem currently may be that we haven't been writing enough of them.

28. If It's An Act - What Kind Of Viewers Are They Trying To Appeal To?.........
What message are they putting out?

It upset me so much I stopped watching this show over a year ago. Just turn them off. Let the ratings sink the show.

"You talk like people are stupid."
:banghead:
I couldn't watch him treating her like that.
These are rhetorical devices which have nothing to do with advancing the conversation. Their whole purpose is to shut down your opponent. Unfortunately, they can be effective, but they're effectiveness has nothing to do with who is right on the facts.

If you want to get rid of ranting crank conservatives, don't add to their ratings!

They're the dancing monkey act that they use to sell your eyeballs to the ad sponsors.

22. Every morning I log on to DU and read these posts
about what an asshole this guy is. Like people are JUST FINDING THIS OUT. And I've been reading the same posts for however many years his dumbass show has been on.

Yes, indeed, Scarborough is an asshole. He is a dick. He treats Mika like crap. We all realize this by now.

I have an idea. Don't watch him. He'll still be an asshole but you won't care.

26. I Think Their Treatment Of Sammy Davis Jr.
was grounds for Joe and Willie's termination and a banning of Barnicle from the network. Mika can fend for herself but chooses not to. Sammy Davis Jr. and people with disabilities cannot.
