Dan Savage tells it like it is!

Bless him, Dan Savage, long an admired author and activist here in Seattle, gave the most blunt, salient assessment of the Republican religious right agenda I've heard in a long time. As he said about all their death panel, kill Granny, dictatorship talk, "I'll just come right out and say it, they (Bachmann, Beck and company) are trying to get Obama killed." He also challenged the dems to "man up" and and for the media to stop portraying the conflict on health care as a 50/50 debate and show it for the loaded, biased, manipulated performance art it is. Of course I'm paraphrasing a bit but not much.

I've met Dan a few times (he wouldn't know me from Adam) and admire his chutzpah greatly. I think he's in his ascendancy and I hope power chafes under his truth.

I like Dan and he has done some great stuff since to try and redeem himself ("Impeach The Motherfucker Already!"), but the above linked column was Dan revealing his ability to be not only completely wrong, but an asshole about it, too.
