Anyone watching Rachel's interview of Tom Rainbow Ridge?
Someone threatened him. He is furiously trying to give his own words in his book a VERY different meaning. He is nervous, defensive and now stating that the threat level was NEVER raised due to political reasons.

When Rachel read the statement, he said, "Those aren't my words." As if an author has no control over the contents os the jacket of the book.

there are times when stuff shows up on a jacket that the author never even SAW. It's happened to me................

7. Yes. He is nervous and obviously lying.
He is performing linguistic gymnastics trying to completely change the meaning of his own written words.

She's so elequent- wish there was a way to caption what she's really wanting to say (and thinking)- probably something like "Are you fucking kidding me? Now you are denying what YOU WROTE and previously stated?". Clearly he was threatened.

the interviewee.

Maddow is ALL class and she is still doing a DAMN good job of giving Ridge lots of camera time to make himself look like a complete liar by contradicting his own damn book.

to the scene because she a pro through and through. Rachel always does her homework!

"Did everything just go to hell after you left Homeland Security, or do you bear some responsibility?"

OUCH.

Of course, Ridge is blaming state and local govt.

can only mean he was threatened on a very severe level. It's like a completely different Tom Ridge wrote the admissions in his book. Someone has a gun to his back.

14. Do you remember the 180 degree turnaround done by Paul O'Neill
Bush's first Treasury Secretary after his book was published? He was also threatened. His book painted a VERY unflattering picture of the Bush administration, stating that they planned to attack Iraq long before 9-11, and he was very critical of Bush describing him as "incurious". He tells of how Bush wanted short memos, never asked questions.

a "shock factor" to get people, especially liberals, to fork over the $$ to buy his book.
Could be we were all duped by him.

19. Rachel RULES! She nailed Ridge to the fucking wall!
Iraq invasion was about democracy? But it was sold as if they were a threat. And if it was bad intelligence, then it was a lie, and if it was about democracy, then 4000 American soldiers is a hell of a price to pay.

Wow. WOW!

21. And Ridge ends by saying invading Iraq will be justified because
of a "democracy" established there. Good for Rachel for reminding him that we were sold that war due to the threat of a terrorist attack with Saddam's nonexistent WMD and the lies linking Saddam to 9-11.

also thought Iraq had WMD, history will be the judge of success, bringing democracy to Iraq, Saddam used WMD on his people.

22. Liar.
Of course there was no overt mention of politics. By the time Election 2004 rolled around all of Bushco knew what effect raising the threat level had on poll numbers so there was never any need to mention politics.

26. Looks to me like somebody didn't read their own book...
Guess Tom should have actually read his book before he signed that check to the ghost writer. Darned inconvenient for him to have to spend his time trying to walk this stuff back instead of selling this piece of fiction. Gosh, if he doesn't agree with what he said in this book, why should anyone else bother buying it?

Poor little dear - Rachel did a masterful job of exposing him for the dopey hack he is. Guess that's how he got his job in the first place - don't think Tom, just follow orders.
