We're getting smoke from the California fires, |
|
here in Colorado. Those of us with breathing difficulties are being advised to take necessary precautions. So far away, yet it makes the world seem a little bit smaller, there's no such thing as 'no impact'. I hurt for those who live there. And I remember the morning I went into the kitchen for my morning coffee and found a fine layer of black dust on all the surfaces, all the way from Mt. St. Helens. Amazing planet.

1. It's on the jet stream. While living in CA we got polution from China it was yellow and terrible. I |
|
used to live in the Sierra Nevada with Yosemite prescribed burns and forest fires both in the National Park (Feds) and the state forest. It was smoky a lot of the time and I got asthma. I no longer live there and my asthma is better. Stay indoors with A/C if needed with windows closed.

No AC, but do have oxygen. I'll spend tomorrow trying to get my desktop computer to talk to the printer again; they've been having a bit of a spat lately.

2. My sister-in-law was skeptical when I told her of your post, so I |
|
found the news references to it.
My best friend called me this morning on his way to work and said it looked like it does just when it's lightly beginning to snow -- fine stuff falling from the sky (he lives in Hollywood). :scared:
I can't even imagine what it's like being there. And you heed those advisories! Take care!

3. I'm heeding, all right. |
|
And it gives me the shivers every time I fly into Seattle and we look down on St. Helens on the approach.

5. It sounds as though you got even more ash than I did -- and I'm in Seattle! |
|
The winds blew it east (obviously) -- we up in Seattle didn't get the brunt of it (although we could see it in the distance from my office in a downtown hi-rise).

http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_13249591The moon was stunning the night before last... it was Red! I've lived in the west all my life, seen lots of fires, but NEVER in my 63 years have I seen a red moon!
