"An appeal was perfected to the Court of Appeals, which affirmed the judgment"

What do they mean by "perfected"?

I'm getting this from my intro to law book and I need to know the material for class tomorrow.

Thank you in advance.

1. The procedural requirements for taking an appeal were complied with.
The documents necessary for the appeal were filed on time, and all other applicable rules governing appellate procedure were met.

3. You are welcome. As in all legal matters, the explanation is rather wordy.
There is probably a simpler way to explain the meaning of the word. Of course, the author's use of the word in the passage seems unnecessary to begin with. The passage could have simply stated, "An appeal was taken to the appellate court which affirmed the decision."

4. From Latin 'perficere'....
....which means 'carry through to completion, 'finish', rather than 'render flawless.

7. You must get a Black's Law Dictionary if you are taking a law class.
It's a basic.

8. I keep forgetting. It's an undergrad intro to law class.
So most of the material is completely foreign to me.
