Mind-numbing stupidity......

Freaky Fundie Lady at work has generally kept quiet since the election, since she knows she's way outnumbered at work. But every now and again, she just can't help herself.
This morning a small of group of us were discussing health care and countries with universal coverage. Fundie Lady, who is part-time and has to pay a lot for our marginal Aetna plan at work, and who even with the Aetna plan has huge medical bills because of her uninsured husband's (who works at Wal-Mart) ailments, chimed in: "Well if I had to choose between Canada's health care and being uninsured, I'd choose to be uninsured because I'd probably die waiting on health care anyway."
I just sat and listened, because I knew where this was going. One of my colleagues pointed out the lies about Canadian health care, and the higher life expectancy, lower infant mortality rate and so on and so on.
Fundie Lady responded that was just propaganda put out by the Canadian government.
My colleague said, "No, that's World Health Organization info."
Fundie Lady said the WHO is just aiding and abetting Canada.......

Mon dieu.....:dunce: I think a DUer said it best earlier this week: "There's no fix for stupid." Or at least not for a thorough right-wing/fundie brainwashing.

5. Just wondering in general...

Not that it's ever a good idea to argue with Stupid, but when stupidity comes out in shit like that, does anyone ever think to ask a couple of questions, like

1. Where did you hear this? and

2. Why would WHO (or whatever the evil group of the moment is) want to aid and abet Canada (or whatever evil group they're accused of helping)?


I mean, are these people thinking up this crap in their own little peanut brains?

6. Recently wondering if the human animal has passed some evolutionary benchmark

Seems there has been another evolutionary branching and we are just now beginning to notice due to the sheer numbers of the mutants.

'Teh Stupid' has reached the level of being a sub species within the greater family tree. Humans seem to be branching out into: those still capable of critical thought and those who's minds have abandoned that faculty.

Idiocracy is more than socio/political. Thinking it is manifesting at a genetic level.
