Man slaps stranger’s crying kid



A Gwinnett County man is in custody Wednesday accused of slapping a stranger’s crying toddler in a Stone Mountain Wal-Mart.

Witnesses say that Roger Stephens, 61, warned the mother of the child that he would “shut up the crying child if she couldn’t,” WSB-TV is reporting. Stephens is accused of slapping the 2-year-old multiple times in the face and then walking away.

A bystander held Stephens until store security came to assist, according to the story.

Stephens was charged with felony cruelty to children and is being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.

I can rule out my two granddaughters. Lord knows their mothers would have just continued shopping like they didn't hear a thing. If they were in a restaurant, they'd just continue eating like they didn't hear a thing. Thank god I don't live down there, but if I were visiting they'd get their arses yanked out to the car ASAP.

I don't understand the replies. I agree what this man did was extreme and inappropriate, but some people's kids are smarter than their parents...until they get to a certain age...then they become equal...for the rest of their lives...especially down there. :hide:
