Tony Blair defends decision to invade Iraq: "In the end, people can disagree and that’s life.”

<snip>

Some critics linked his personal faith with the decision to go to war in Iraq, but he tells Vause the two were unrelated: “Are my politics and my values linked? Yes, of course they are. But I took those decisions for reasons that were not to do with religion, but to do with the belief that in each case it was right to protect people against the prospect or actuality of dictatorship.”
Blair also reveals on TALK ASIA whether he worries his legacy has been overshadowed by the decision to go to war with Iraq: “It would worry me more, if I thought that I had flinched from taking a difficult decision on the basis that it was a difficult decision.” He adds: “I tried to take the decisions for my country on the basis of what I thought was right. In the end, people can disagree and that’s life.”

10. That attitude is why we need to return the leaders to the battlefields
Let them, and their offspring lead the charges if the wars are so important. If they get killed, maimed or otherwise damaged, oh, well, that's life.

His caviler attitude about a 'disagreement' in policy that resulted is SO much death is pretty fucking unacceptable, isn't it?

14. From your screen name, I take it you look at the issue like I do.
Ever since I had kids, the idea of needlessly sending troops off to die for nothing took on a different meaning for me -- although I was just as opposed to the Iraq War before my kids were born.

The scary thing is that Blair, like so many other chickenhawks, has young children. . .

13. Going by the last few years of articles I've read on the numbers
who don't have 'life' because of this lying invasion, I'd say Blair is a major asshole. Millions dead, mutilated, homeless, orphaned, detained, poisoned forever with DU, bombs laying everywhere for little kids to play with for decades, two nations destroyed ....... yes Blair, 'that's life', for anyone without a heart or soul. Rot in hell once your pathetic life ends.
