The Angry Liberal.
Edited on Wed Sep-02-09 12:52 PM by Gman2
We have been complicit in allowing the right to frame all those on the left as passive. Any time a liberal makes a strong statement, we all pile on them as an angry liberal. That being the worst thing in this or any other universe. Dean, knows all too well, the box which we have allowed ourselves. One campaign rebel yell, was enough to paint him as unstable.

We must fight the desire the right has for us to limit our options to Kum-buy yah. And polite speech. Newt was the early framing genius that made us avoid liberal as a term, for two decades. Now, Obama is painted with these frames, as soon as he opens his mouth. We have the further constraint, that if Obama gets down to it, he will be painted as an angry Black Man. The only thing worse. No drama Obama is an honorific, when used by the left, and a burning tire necklace, when used by the right, to hobble him.

Our two decade long imposed ennui, by the framing of the right, hobbles us in several respects. Like the feminists, that cant buy in, as you must be a man hating, bra burner, or it has been suggested by some, so too are lefties ambivelent about their Dem/liberal firm affiliations. They jump on others that show aggression, chiding them, and giving advice on how to appear monklike, to win your point. We are trying to talk rationally, to those that are blowing ten foot flames from their mouths. That talk about their plans to INVADE them liberal talk thingies, fully packin'.

IF we don't buck the wet burlap that Newt and others applied, we are destined to LOSE the debate. LIKE WE HAVE already. Get real, get loud. Have a point. State it once. Take NO crap. These principles were in our repertoire until Reagan, and all his smears. Now, we are stifled by our need for approval of IDIOTS. Why do we need to impress upon them our eternal patience? It is time to get aggressive. Or go back to sleep.

I feel that every time we are offered the passive liberal straightjacket, we must loudly object, or we will surely lose not only the debate, but momentum, faith, clout, political capital, and anything else the freaks brandishing guns at our pres. and talking of needing to stop the socialists at all costs might have in mind for you. Think they are going to play nice, after they steal power? Knowing what they do demographically? This is the time for liberals to blossom. To allow their passions to flow, and even at times overflow. Our passion has been bottled up since Kent State. On purpose you think? What we have in spades, is passion, and it is the thing that the right will not allow. And the sycophantic press.

Our passion, cannot be hidden away, and then to expect that we can change against entrenched interests. Where are the hard boiled Dems? They might not LIKE us. Who cares. Let's roll.

2. Until and unless liberals really start to fight back, the reich will continue to control
things.

Simply put - the left has taken too much to heart the slogan from the past, "Make Love, Not War."

That weakness has opened us up to losing every time we have been confronted by the bullies on the other side.

The aggression that was evident in the more "enthusiastic" actions of the past needs to be rekindled. It will be difficult enough to move anything forward with the bought-and-paid-for corporate shills with Ds after their names. If we only fight adhering to the Marquis of Queensberry Rules while the enemy enters the ring armed with an AK-47, we have no chance for victory.

We are in a war. Failure to fight it seriously and with every weapon we can utilize is suicide.
