The FCC may be considering different ways to put more content-management tools in the hands of parents, but there is one government content-control tool does not appear to be in danger of being superseded by technology.
The FCC said Monday that time-channeling of indecent content "remains a vital tool" for "shielding children" from "objectionable" broadcast content.
The FCC disallows indecent content between 6 a.m and 10 p.m., with the overnight hours considered the "safe harbor" for that material.

Canada has grown up too. The US is the only country in the Western World that has a hypocritical puritanical standard where the government agency (FCC) does not regulate violence on television at all, but requires stronger coarse langauge not to be aired.
And even after the watershed at 10pm, most cable and broadcast networks, including broadcast radio ,don't even take advantage of it. All movies broadcast on broadcast or cable TV has to be family friendly (PG-13 level) at all times, even after the 10pm watershed.
Seriously, American television should just grow up, and the consumers need to demand to the FCC for a broadcast code that regulates all objectionable content. Or at the least extend the safe harbor from 10pm to 9pm, but many broadcasters don't take advantage of it, and can't anyway.
