Life takes strange turns for man who shot, killed robber

Here is the article...
http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/news_homicide/2009/09/man-who-shot-killed-robber-at-kangaroo-express.html

the fReeper thread...
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2330591/posts

...and the line in the story that caught my eye.

Riccitelli never got any money off of his story, though he wishes he did. His mother has cancer, and she might lose her home.

The freepers are talking about the firearm and the cops not giving it back...

ME??? I think he IS a good Samaritan, and it is a shame his mom may loose her home because she simply has cancer.

1. It doesn't say why she might lose her home.
It says she has cancer, and she may lose her home.

All speculation, I know...but there are many reasons why she may lose her home.
Is it because she has to choose between medical bills and mortgage payments?
Is she stuck in a bad variable-interest mortgage?
Is she just poor at handling her finances?
