What SHOULD be sent as LTTE around the country... |
|
Dear publication:
I applaud your covering the teabag rebellion as completely and thoroughly as you have, after all, dissent is essential to our democracy. But I guess I'm confused why you're supporting these protestors, when you refused the cover the millions of protestors to the Iraq war, or if you did, you accused them of antipatriotic activities. I guess I'm confused why carrying loaded firearms to a presidential town hall is hailed as that person's right, when antiwar protestors were jailed for having tshirts critical of President Bush. Are you really saying a tshirt is more dangerous than a semiautomatic weapon? Are you really giving a pass to pundits calling for the death of our president on our national airwaves when an unarmed New Orleans man who told Cheney to do something to himself was handcuffed and interrogated by secret service? Are you really going to act like Dick Cheney is a valid spokesperson for why Dick Cheney did nothing wrong while in office? I guess I would try to appeal to your better nature. Journalism used to be a noble profession, where the illumination and examination of the truth was standard by which it operated. Now, the media is more concerned about tricking the american people into believing its patriotic to make blatant death threats against the president, or at the very least giving those who do so a free podium when you silenced, ignored and reviled protestors to the Bush administration, who were not making threats but were trying to make the government follow the rule of law.
How you sleep at night, as journalists, knowing that you have become more adept at propaganda than reporting, more facile at a political agenda than crusading for the rights of the people, more clever at helping those who torture to cover up their crimes than you are at investigating those crimes. How would your heroes, those who inspired you to become journalists, feel now that you've allowed yourself to become incurious, mediocre and partisan?
At long last, have you no shame?
( anyone is free to use this in part or in its entirety)

War = Republican = Awesome.
Helping People = Liberal = "Taxocrap COMM'NIST"!
Seriously, does anyone still think the media is "liberal"? It's about as laughable as people using Reagan-era "Red Menace" burns in 2009.

3. Not sure this is the right tone... |

You imply that the publication in question "supports" the teabaggers, or supported arrests of Bush protesters, by apparent virtue of the fact that the "journalists" (all of them?) didn't protest or complain equally loudly. Not really a fair charge, and not a charge likely to get your letter published.
