Add another name to the growing list of pols and would-be pols eyeing a run for Edward M. Kennedy's Senate seat: Former Red Sox ace Curt Schilling.

That's right, Mr. Bloody Sock himself told NECN's Brad Puffer in an interview today that he has been "contacted" about a possible Senate run and has not ruled it out.

"I'm not going to divulge the discussions, but I've been contacted by people whose opinion I give credence to and listen to, and I listened," Schilling said.

Asked whether he would run, Schilling said, "As of today, probably not."

"I don't know, going forward," Schilling said. "That's a pretty big deal, from a commitment standpoint, not just for me but for my family."

After the interview, Schilling added to his comments with a statement he posted on his blog.

"I do have some interest in the possibility," Schilling wrote. "That being said to get to there, from where I am today, many many things would have to align themselves for that to truly happen. I am not going to comment further on the matter since at this point it would be speculation on top of speculation."

21. My sister actually emailed him (he's related to us) and begged him not to stump for Bush, asking
him to consider the lives of her children. He, of course, ignored her. Not that we expected him to listen to her, but he didn't have the courtesy to even respond to her. Of course, he doesn't have much courtesy, period. He's a total douche, in every way. (And don't even start with the charities crap. I'm glad he helps people, but it is strictly for publicity, according to a relative who knows him better than I do.)

And don't forget, he also stumped for McPalin in 08:

My cousin Shonda, who married this fundie POS, is also interested in running for some public office. Anybody interested in a blond Sarah Palin?

13. Why not? The Republicans need to run SOMEONE...
It wouldn't matter anyway, because he wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell in the general. Unlike the electorate of, say, Kal-ee-for-nee-a, Massachusetts voters aren't in the habit of electing a celebrity just because he's a celebrity, political positions be damned.

the Democrats nominate Charles Manson.

18. I have a rather low opinion of the Esteemed Mr. Schilling
related to some exchanges in the past. He came across as a true "legend in his own mind" and not someone whom I would choose to represent me, but I live in another state and will not have the opportunity to vote against him.
