Are they scared of being labelled as racists?

1. What would you change in the way they portray him?
Big ears and toothy grin about sums up Obama's countenance.

3. Define bold
Edited on Thu Sep-03-09 10:26 AM by blogslut
From the toons I've seen, Obama's pretty easy to caricature. What do you mean by bold? Is boldness based simply on an unflattering rendition of the person being portrayed?

4. Can we at least give Pres. Obama a YEAR before we go all out
and make him look idiotic? Sheesh.

Maybe Pres. Obama should start a war with some sovereign country just to get the "honeymoon" all repuke Presidents seem to enjoy their first term.

5. yes they are scared of being called racist because of the many
racist depictions of African Americans, Jews and other minorities in cartoons in the past . the pictures will, by default, pretty much always resemble the racist depictions of the past though the artist may not be racist or have racist intent.

7. Caricatures of presidents tend to get more extreme
the more those presidents screw up.

Stupid looked barely human by the end of his reign.

Give us examples of how you would like to see him drawn.

If you can. :P

12. The features I'd think they capitalize on, have nothing to do with race
He is tall, lanky and athletic, but often quite serious and wonky in his countenance, but can be super cool, like a GQ model with his sunglasses...

I guess we all see what we want to see...

14. Oliphant often makes Obama look like Fred Astair, imo: skinny tall, and well dressed. With ears.
So far the better class of editorial cartoonists have done pretty well.
