Help! I need sanity!!! The health care debate on Facebook is fraying my last nerve! |
|
Just had to come here where people are sane. One friend of a friend just posted that Obama's plan is wrong because a homeless man might get the same quality of care as a CEO! The horror!
I'm so glad DU is here for moments like this. Thanks for the refuge.

1. If you think the health care debate here is sane... |
|
I'm wondering if you're at the right place.

2. Well I haven't heard anyone here argue that CEOs have more right to live |

Sanity is always a relative term. :-)

6. Of course they do. That's what CEO stands for. |
|
It stands for "Deserves To Live More Than Homeless People." (There might be slight variances do to a Reaganomics-based education system).

3. a real 'friend' or a facebook 'friend'.... |
|
you know you can block posts by even your 'friends' there. and you can restrict what they see on your profile/page. i guess i have gotten rid of all my friends, irl and virtual, who don't agree with me politically. simplifies things....

16. to your credit, no doubt! i have some high school friends who 'friended' me |
|
and i know most are not like me....i don't know if they see what i post or not....won't stop me! i mostly am on facebook as it replaced a yahoo group where you either had tons of individual emails, or a digest , or had to go to the site. this is easier, and has more about my irl friends and fellow protesters from camp casey.

5. that homeless man is equally protected by the US Military- does |
|
that bother this fool too?
What part of Inalienable rights would he deny the homeless? What part of "all 'men' are created equal"?
There are some real loud opinions on FB- sadly.
I've been un-friended by someone i considered to be a close friend over my support of HCR- and President Obama.
glad you're taking a break-

12. There's a good chance the homeless man was in the US Military. |
|
There are quite a few vets who come back from war and are unable to deal with the trauma. They end up in the street where they self-medicate. Because the past 4 decades have been dominated by Republicans, they have not had the adequate care and advocacy they need.
I'm sure these same "people" have "Support Our Troops" demand ribbons on their cars.

|
Why can't people see that we all benefit when we help the least fortunate among us? When we take care of our own citizens? What is life, how do you pursue liberty and happiness when you are ill and neglected?

It's like they have a mind of their own. They can't take the ignorance! And mostly the meanness. It was actually one of my best and oldest friends, and a Freeper friend of hers chimed in on the thread, and a bunch of other people. It was alright for Facebook, but their arguments make me ill after a while, and I have to come back here.
