Anyone who thinks that only poor people shop at Walmart doesn't know shit. Our local Walmart parking lot is chock full of high end cars & SUVs. Even the rich are feeling the pinch these days.

25. I debated about whether to post this or not.

I decided that the reactions and assumptions say more about the people viewing the pictures than the people in the pictures.

I worked on a farm in SC and one of the barns was on Highway 378. That was one of the major routes to the beach. People from everywhere would stop when we were working there. They assumed everybody there was straight out of an Erskine Caldwell novel or in a tryout for a remake of a DW Griffith's movie.

I had a BS in geology, but was helping a relative out. A couple of cousins were in college too. We were working side by side with every socioeconomic group you can think of. It was hard work, but everybody there made honest money and I liked them all.

I'm sure I'm in some picture albums. I would start discussing the Southern Agrarians and their impact on Southern culture. Their assumptions about me were amusing and watching their expressions was priceless. They were defining themselves, and I wasn't letting them put me in a box.

Edit to add: I am a "People of Wal Mart." I go out just as raggedy ass as anybody else, and I did it at White Flint Mall in Maryland.
