Very much, in fact.

So there's that.

he's basically Bush 3 by leaving in place most if not all of Bush's most egregiously unconstitutional policies and not going after those who perpetrated them.

17. Me too
Deal is, he's no longer a candidate fighting an uphill battle against a fucked up, evil regime, he's THE president. I never expected miracles, nor did I ever expect him to change deeply entrenched flaws in our political system overnight, or perhaps at all. I expect him to work hard and do his best to represent the people and support progressive law.

I knew from the beginning I wouldn't agree with everything.

Plus the mess he's inherited is unbelievable.

God DAMN republicans. If I want to get pissed, I just think of any one of those smarmy, disgusting bastards.

52. I sure do hate that he did that and I can understand that you'd resent it. To put that hater upon
the stage at that event, was an insult to all who support LGBT civil rights.

I had hoped he'd do something to make up for it, something obvious, but no.

I still like him. I still have hope. But my trust and patience is growing thin.

People forget, the FIRST priority was trying to fix the economy that AWOL Bush fucked up.

Cracks me up that "democrats" wanna throw in the towel on the Prez. because he didn't get a health care bill passed in his first 6 months. What a load of crap!

36. People jumping over every BS MSM spin of an administration statement are annoying.
Edited on Thu Sep-03-09 10:09 PM by Odin2005
There is a joke that says when a diplomat says "yes" he means maybe, when he says "maybe" he means no, and if he says "no" he is a bad diplomat. Same principle applies, politicians will often speak in a conditional way to keep others from being oppositional because of hurt egos. And the Senate has a heck of a lot of big egos.

38. I dislike his Chief of Staff
I did right from the beginning but I tried to convince myself it was okay. He would be doing Obama's bidding and he's a bulldog and yadda, yadda, yadda. Bullshit. He's just Turdblossom with a (D) after his name. Same exact stink. I want him gone, gone, gone. Anthony Weiner would make a fine replacement, but really, a ficus would also do, not because it would be more effective but because it would stink less, a lot less. And maybe, just maybe, Obama might hear us a bit better. He seems to be hearing some pretty selective stuff, including a lot of DLC crap.

Obama has the potential to be one of our greatest Presidents ever. He really does have it in him, but so far, he's hit well below the mark. He's done some good things but he's done some bad things. And this healthcare issue really has become the choice point. If he chooses to listen to the Immanuels (sp), then he will lose so much support, it's going to be tragic. If he does get the public option, that we liberals chose to allow as our compromise, then his potential remains.

It's a shame he hasn't used that magnificent spine of his as often as he could. He has so much capital but it's being squandered with this less than strong support of healthcare reform.

I adore him. I adore his family. I even think their dog is the bomb. That said, it is put up or shut up time.

So, there's that.

But not the highest hopes I had right after the election.

He needs to get into the swing of this being president thing. Once he does I think he will be a good president.

A few recent disappointments make me think he may never be a great president.

47. I like the President a lot.
I hate to see him making the mistakes he's making by surrounding himself with the wrong people as advisors. Jimmy Carter did the same. Instead of the provincial view he gave us from the Bible belt in Georgia we are getting the provincial view from Chicago and the Chicago school of economics. Carter realized his mistakes but it was too late to get him reelected. By that time the St. Ronnie train had left the station and was going full speed ahead. Hopefully the GOP will find an idiot to run against him so he can be reelected. I know he will have discovered that he is on the wrong path by then and change direction.
