The Problem With Passing Real Healthcare Reform Is Campaign Finance Reform is Needed First... |
As long as the Millions of $$ are available from corporate/special interests to find their way into the pockets of Congressional lawmakers and their families through existing virtually useless campaign finance regulation, we need not expect those same Congressional lawmakers to suddenly take on the mantle of 'statesmen' and act in opposition to the interests of those who just stuffed their pockets.
47mil people with no health insurance is a tragedy, no doubt about it.
However, getting $$ out of Congress is much more urgent --and then we will see some real reform on a host of vital issues, including healthcare reform. And when that happens we will receive a bonus --people will stop voting against their interests and Repubs will implode once cut off from their primary sources of funding.

RADICAL reform, won't ever happen.

3. Yrs ago someone said nothing clarifies the mind of a Congressman like watching a cohort go to prison |
When a member of Congress puts the interests of his constituents second to those of a special interest group or corporation that backs him financially A CRIME HAS OCCURRED.
