The stupid...it burns. re: woman talking about Obamas upcoming speech to kids.

So there I was...

Sitting in my living room, watching some inane tv waiting for the kids to get home.

My phone rings, innocent I pick it up.

A voice comes over the line- "Hey...how are you...are you busy?"

....I should have listened to the little alarm bells ringing, but instead I said "Nope...what's up?"

She goes on to ask me if I'd heard about IT!?

....Uhm..what?

You know, Obama demanding that all children watch his speech to them...telling them they have to write a paper on how they would make the nation better, make him better as a president.

....Well I'd heard that he's going to give a speech to school children..but nothing otherwise. What's wrong with our president making a speech to our children? I think it's a wonderful idea to get them involved in their future. (This, I learned seconds later...was a mistake.)

I just wanted you to know that we parents are going to keep our kids home, anyone who is insane enough to give Veterans a suicide pill so they don't have to spend money on extra health care for them doesn't need to speak to MY children.

....I was silent so long she actually asked "Are you there?"

Me: ......

"Are you there?"

Me: Uhm. Where the HELL did you hear THAT?!

She goes on to tell me that EVERYONE knows about it...they keep calling her and talking about this health care bill being a disguise to put legal euthanasia for elderly and such and well you know they don't want to have to spend money on people who can't contribute so they are going to give people a choice but it's not really a choice you see it's just a secret way of culling the herd so to speak don't you know?

I go on to say something to the effect of: Look...I don't know who you've been listening to or what you've been reading. But I used to be a Republican. I dropped the party like hotcakes when I realized it wasn't the Party I thought it was. I'm an independent now and I've made it my goal to be informed enough to actually see the truth. Not he said she said...Not rumors and blatant misinformation. Not what these News for Entertainment people want us to think either. (Shes the mom of two of my daughters friends...I decided to be nice. I didn't say FAUX out loud.)

I asked her outright if she has insurance. She told me no, when she's sick she takes care of herself. I asked her...what about when your children get sick and need to see the doctor. She ends up sucking up the cost. I asked her what if the unthinkable happens, and one of her family gets cancer or something like MS?

She said "I don't know..."

So I ask her Don't you think it would be nice to have an option available to you, that is scaled to you- that you can afford. So that you don't have to WORRY about what ifs?

She said yes.

I then said something to the effect of: Honey...that is what our president is trying to do for you. Nothing more. There isn't a suicide pill, death panel, backdoor policy for euthanizing people. There isn't a lack of choices. It's all about trying to make sure we can be a healthier and happier nation by having the care we deserve. When we are healthier and happier, we're a more productive country don't you think?

She said "Well yes...I guess so"

I asked her not to keep her kids home and deny them the chance to see something so historical.

She's still uncertain....

Because she doesn't want her kids indoctrinated, or brainwashed.

I told her I had to go, that I hope she would think about it. And that I wanted her to remember that fear and drama is what sells tv, usually the real story is much more boring than what they can make up. That if we let fear lead our choices, then we really have no choices. They have been taken from us the moment we stop thinking for ourselves. Then I hung up.

The only thing I could do, was sit there and think. "Dear god, is this really what we're up against?"

I needed to post this, because there really isn't anyone around here I can share it with and get a little empathy.

Sorry to be so harsh, but people like this person must be excised from our populace, no matter how barbaric our methods, no matter the vehemence of the detractors.

Seriously, there is no half-measure that is going to work. They are the enemy, and we need to eradicate them..

Flame away, call me a monster (or worse), tell me that I'm sick and I need help, say what you will. But you, readers, know that I'm right, no matter how much you are unwilling to admit it to yourself.

At some point, civil discourse has to go out the window, and physical action is then the only option that remains.

We have reached that point. People like your friend need to be eliminated. You can throw them in camps, deport them, or execute them.

I favor the latter.
