Looking for old info re. Bush's National ID Card... |
|
I somehow wound up in a Facebook firestorm tonight regarding healthcare. I've spent the last 2 hours vigorously researching and countering outlandish claims from educated people on how Obama is going to implant everyone with spooky Class II devices! If you read the bill (and not just the scare-tactic emails that quote stuff out of context), it's clear why Class IIs are mentioned in the bill in regards to the medical device registry. I gotta say, it was fun and invigorating. But ANYWAY...
Based on a comment posted by one professional (a longtime NURSE, no less) about how she just knows implantable transmitters are described in HR3200 :eyes:, I and another person were trying to track down info on how Bush wanted to "tag" everyone to stave off illegal immigration or something. I don't recall if: 1) most conservatives thought that was a great idea, or 2) it was supposed to involve implants or any kind of remote-sensing ID cards. Can anyone point to information affirming or negating either of those two points?
Thanks for your help.

5. Funny you should mention RFID... |
|
My FB friend has just informed me he can read between the lines of the bill because he knows the people who put the language in there -- the bits about tracking data on post-market Class II implantable devices, pg 1004 -- and he knows them to be longtime RFID proponents (e.g. they want to sell RFID chips). He did not, however, elaborate. Anyone know what "people" or industry group he might be talking about that would have pushed for that language?
