I think the Aurora SR-91 flew over yesterday evening (awesome pics!).
I walked out of the lookout onto the catwalk at about 6:50 PM yesterday, looked up, and saw this amazing contrail in the sky. I did not see or hear the aircraft that formed the contrail. However, the angle and dissipating end indicated that the aircraft was climbing on a heading of north-northwest (from the direction of Nevada). I was once told by the then-editor of Aviation Week and Space Technology that the Aurora only operated from and between two bases: Nellis AFB in Nevada and Macrahanish RAFB in Scotland (west of Glasgow). Funny, that heading would approximate a polar route from Nellis to Scotland.

The contrail had the classic Donut-On-A-Rope or Rings-On-A-String form usually associated with the pulse-jet Aurora.

I would have posted these last night, but my broadband has been down. It took me all morning to get these pics uploaded to Flickr, and it will probably take me all afternoon to get then posted on DU. I’m not doing captions .. the pics don’t need captions.

4. I can see now why many of the "chemtrail" stories came from up your way...
Never thought of the Nellis to Glasgow polar route. Who knows what's been flying through those skies?

5. i remember camping in the mountains here in san diego back in the late 80s..
we saw something shuttling back-and-forth all night that could've only been the B2. this was when the DoD was still denying that it ever existed. we saw it on a few occasions after that night, once flying so low that we could make out the triangular shape.

10. Thanks. Off Subject perhaps, It still doesn't explain the big a$$ X's I've seen
in the skies of Mendocino County. I'd really like to know what that's all about. I'm doubtful it's anything to do with weather manipulation, but I really can't say.

I used to live on the coast in the 90's.

Bartended at Dick's Place and the Caspar Inn, among other things, LOL.

12. I sold my property in Redwood Valley. It's day 4 in Elk.
One of the buyers was renting this place, and that's how I ended up living (day 4 ) in Elk. :hi:
