How do I text???? (I never text, obviously) _-
Want to text the Ed Show and when I go to 'text msg' on my phone, it shows a field for mobil phone # or e-mail -- which one should I choose?

Thanks!! :hi:

1. When you get instructions, could you text them to me?
Maybe I can figure out how to view the message!

3. I'm like the commercial that says young people text a message in like 7 seconds --
we take MINUTES!

My niece and nephew text me and I get so aggravated trying to respond, I'm always deleting what I tried so hard to type, that now I just phone them.

6. Promos like that usually use something like a 5 or 6 number code.
Since it isn't sending it to an actual phone but more likely a computer.

7. neither does my SIP phone number..
wake up and join the 20th (sic) century... telephone numbers don't have to look like XXX-XXX-XXXX any more. They can look like anything, even an IP address.

who's trying to learn.

You text message to other cell phones/ computers identified as phones. Enter the number that the show gave you.

9. Thanks -- that's what ddeclue said, and so of course NOW it makes sense --
It didn't look like a phone number to me, so I was thinking there MUST be a field that said "text the Ed Show" :7 or something. Now I get it, and I do thank you from my old, shriveled heart. :hi:

but hey *611 doesn't look like a telephone number either..

18. So, when I was getting my private ticket in 1972 and, had you been alive,
you asked for some guidance, how would you have felt if I said "Jeez! Get with the times - airplanes have only been around since 1903!"

11. Hey, a few years back, I figured out how to say Hello on my sister's pager
But she didn't know she had to turn it upside down. Yeah, she is older than me.

14. I laugh
because not too many years ago I was in the same boat. Now I use texting all the time, in fact I prefer it now. I can send a message and whoever is my target can read it when they get a notion where as with a call they have to answer the phone right now and very seldom is any message from me, whether spoken or texted, is something that has to be dealt with right now.

I do a lot of my texting right from the computer so it makes it even easier.

17. Yeah, I'd better get practice. As with most things, I'm confident the
more you do it, the more proficient you become.

16. By the time I got through the posts here, it was too late! I was so mad when
Edited on Fri Sep-04-09 06:12 PM by gateley
Ed first posed the question (because I'd just had the Trigger explained to me) that I was going to vote NO!!!!!! But I'd calmed down by the end of the show, so not sure how I would have voted then if I'd had the opportunity.

It's a tough one -- I really like Obama and like a lot of what he's done, but this issue is a biggie so not sure how I'll feel if this gets so watered down it's essentially no change at all.

Did you vote? If so, how?

The YES I'll vote for him FAR outweighed the NO's.

ETA -- But look out, now I'm ready for the next one!!!!

19. I was torn too for the same reasons.
I'll be 47 at the end of the month. I have no health insurance. Too young for Medicare, too poor to pay a private company and too "rich" for Medicaid. What do I do? Does any one care about it but me?

My hubby is 60. Too young for Medicare, too "rich" for Medicaid and would be considered very "high ri$$$$k" for private health insurance (previous surgeries, etc.).

With the grace of God or just out of pure luck we managed to raise 2 kids without having a major medical incident. A couple broken bones for my son that we scrimped to pay for and that's about it. Whew! But what if we did? What about the millions of other people out there in the same or similar situations?

This is a HUGE deal for us.

For now, I voted yes but if we don't get something substantial done about health care, I honestly can't be sure how I'll feel in upcoming elections. Probably very disenfranchised, disillusioned and ready to spit nails.

 You have to be kindof quick to catch Ed's questions, ask me how I know?! LOL.

21. Yeah, it's kind of tough to say what we will do in three years --
he may have "redeemed" himself, or continued to let us down (at least in our minds). And of course, it all depends on who was running against him.

I've always had a great job with great insurance. Now I don't have a job and if I were to get one (although the thought of getting back into that corporate world almost makes me vomit), from what I hear I'm pretty sure I would be denied because of pre-existing conditions. I'm in the same boat you are, except I don't have income, so it's not that I'm 'too rich' for Medicaid, but (when I was in NC, anyway) I had to have children in order to qualify.

It's just WRONG!

I'll be sitting in front of the TV tomorrow ready to POUNCE when Ed poses his question!! :hi:

20. I truly wish so many people hadn't gotten started texting
It will mean a lot more wailing and screaming when those of us who are sick of the body count on the highways get around to banning it completely.

Hey, if they can lower the BAC level to a measly 0.08%, then they can ban your texting company from transmitting messages...
