Anti-Chavez demonstrations in Venezuela and around world
Demonstrators around the world are mobilizing Friday to protest Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

The Colombian-organized "No More Chavez" event is expected to draw participants in about 30 countries, including Colombia, Venezuela and the United States.

The protesters are scheduled to gather in about 100 major cities to call for an end to what organizers call his "lies," "hypocrisy" and "insults" and attempts to garner support for what they say is a "delusional" revolution.

Mr. Chavez has criticized the protest as "stupid."

1. OK, so rich right wing white people(the only kind who will show up for this) don't like Chavez

Why are you on the side of George W. Bush on this issue?

If Chavez were overthrown, the rich would steal power again like they stole it back in Nicaragua. You can't think that would be a good thing.

And you still don't even see the comic irony in the fact that this was organized in Colombia, most likely on Alvaro Uribe's orders.

(on edit)

And why would you ever use the Voice of America as a link on a progressive website?

10. So you are either on the side of GWB or Chavez?
Why not somebody sane?

11. There isn't anyone in Venezuela that YOU would consider "sane"
Was your idea of sanity Carlos Andres Perez, the "moderate social democrat" who imposed a brutal IMF austerity budget and then massacred trade unionists in the streets of Caracas?

Or Lula, who abandoned all his leftist beliefs the moment he came to office and happily did photo ops with Dubya at the ethanol plant?

12. No, No, and No
That you are incapable of discussing Chavez without comparing him to some bad people doesn't speak that well of Chavez.

13. The point is, history has proven that nothing good has come of North Americans
supporting the ouster of progressive Latin American leaders.

And the bad people I mentioned are, realistically, the sort that are the alternative to Chavez. AT BEST. At worst you end up with the Pinochets.

We just need to leave Venezuela and Latin America alone.

8. er...No + Chavez equals what?
Why do you want Venezuela to move to the right?

That's what has to happen if Chavez is overthrown.
